Wonderful staff! This is a trip back in time. Beautiful. And, yes, you can dine in the Oak Room at the Round Table in Dorothy Parker's chair. Wish they offered more books and information on hotel. Centrally located, but on a relatively quiet street. Close to Bryant Park and the NYP Library, lots of shopping and super restaurants. Not as...

No coffee makers, no room service, no upgrades for platinum or any other program members, only one working elevator and expensive ($400 per night for a tiny queen size room) Why bother ?? As a loyal Marriott Member (800 stays) this hotel will challenge your loyalty to the Marriott Brand. It is not THAT charming - not enough to overcome...

Dear NMK369, We apologize for the inconveniences you experienced during your recent stay. As you know, upgrades are available based on availability and although we would gladly offer upgrades to our most loyal members, sometimes we simply do not have the availability. We are indeed smoke free and if we discover smoking in any of our rooms or anywhere on...

Check in time is 4pm so the room was not ready after my arrival from Europe at 3pm. I used this as an opportunity to explore the hotel’s Blue Bar and enjoying a $7 Coke. The room was average in size for a typical New York hotel. The bathroom however was bigger than expected. The bed was comfortable to sleep...

Dear SwissTravelManager, Thank you for your feedback. One of our elevators is out of service due to the hotel’s elevator modernization project. Over the next months, both elevators will be completely replaced. Unfortunately there is no "appropriate" time to conduct such a project, we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Although we do not offer minibar and room...

Sadly, I am sorry to report that the Algonquin has lost its luster since its acquisition by Marriott. I recently stayed here for three nights for work, my first visit to the hotel since a vacation here on my first trip to NYC 20 years ago. My how times have changed! First, the desk clerk clearly had some issues that...

Although I did not enjoy my stay at The Algonquin (at all), I would like to note the staff was VERY professional and friendly. I have no complaint at all about the service provided by the hotel. However, the hotel fell short of my expectations . . . far short. I have stayed at other Marriott Autograph Collection hotels, and...

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback in regards to your recent stay. Please accept our apology for the inconvenience with the elevator. Right now we are having a major renovation for our elevator that will unfortunately take a few more months. However, it will provide better service to all of our guests. We...

Decided to stay at The Algonquin as they are part of the Marriott Autograph collection. Was very pleased with the service and the complimentary breakfast because of my Gold status with Marriott. Room was small but clean. Bathroom was very small but met the needs of my wife and I for our short stay. Not sure I would like the...

Located just off Avenue of the Americas, The Algonquin has a great history. Built around the early 1900s it became famous in the 1930s for the Round Table, a group of writers who met there every day for lunch.. The rooms are very much in the art deco style, and very comfortable. The staff are friendly and helpful. Cat lovers...

Was there a couple of years ago and had a great visit. The staff was great and overall the place has a wonderful feeling of old New York the way it was before it became overrun with billionaires and bankers.

This hotel is in a great location, and is good value. What makes it exceptional is their staff, who go to great lengths to be helpful for their guests. We had an issue (not a minor one, and not the hotel's fault) and Gabriela Jimenez in the front office went OVER THE TOP to assist us, working well past midnight...

My husband and myself just returned from the Algonquin hotel in NYC. Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
