Having previous knowledge of the Algonquin, and having sat at the famous "Round Table" about 40 years ago, I decided to try it's newly refurbished interior for my annual NYC visit. The location is perfect for Theatre district and midtown, especially when one is alone. Now, the interior is lovely. The room I had was on the back (as review...

The Algonquin is the oldest operating hotel in New York, the first to allow unescorted women to check in (who knew it was not allowed before?), the first to have electronic door locks, where the New Yorker was born, and where My Fair Lady and William Faulkner's Nobel acceptance speech was written. It was the hangout of the literary and...

Right in the heart of it all & easy walking distance to so many things. Plus the staff is so fabulous! The hotel is just steeped in history and really has a "stepped back in time" feel to it. But our room was clean and comfy. It was a real pleasure to stay here.

I just spent 5 nights at the Algonquin. I have been at the hotel many times (at least 10+ times) before and I was pleased to receive a free room upgrade. The room (206) was very nice and very convenient i.e. you could get quickly to the lobby or fitness (same floor). I normally don't take breakfast but I ordered...

My wife & I recently went into the bar for a drink at this very charming historic hotel. It is steeped in history & you should definitely ask what kind of people used to drink & stay at the hotel The bar is beautiful but that's about all the niceties I can really say about it. The barman was rather...

You would choose this hotel for location or history of the hotel or because of the brand. Location is of course great, walking around the hotel makes you feel like a writet's museum with splendid quotes. The rest was pretty dissapointing, room was very small, couldn't even turn around with 2 suitcases. The blue bar food was excellent but alone...

We stayed here for a week in late October 2013, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is in a great location on w44th street, close enough to times square to be in walking distance but far enough away to avoid the crowds. Most locations are within walking distance (Times Square, Central Park, Empire State, Rockefeller etc), ideal for 5th...

Although we didn't stay at the Algonquin Hotel, we had a drink in the beautiful lobby..an expensive one at that. I mean, $22 for a regular drink is excessive by most of the country's standards, but we wanted to experience the literary vibe of the 1920's on up. I had a Moscow Mule while my daughter had a Hemingway's something....

I loved staying at this hotel. It was pricey, but it was full of character. The lobby and entry are beautiful and evoke an era of luxury and intrigue. The room, although small was beautifully presented, and the bathroom was small, but well equipped and classy. My only complaint though is a serious one. With a quoted account of about...

This hotel is an awesome location for experiencing all that Times Square has to offer. The parking was convenient and the staff was attentive and helpful - although a foam pillow never quite made it to our room. Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
