The rooms are bigger then most NYC apartments and the suites and studios have a little kitchen. For us, very happy returning customers, it's our NYC home far away from home. Great place to stay with a great and extremely friendly staff, all of them
When I'm planning a trip I spend hours looking at hotels. For me the hotel can make or break the vacation, it's not just a place to sleep. I was in NYC for 5 days with friends and The Lombardy did not disappoint. Great location, walking distance to several attractions. We book a room with a terrace, it wasn't much of a view but having the outdoor space was a plus! The one bedroom suite was the same cost as some hotels basic rooms with 2 queen beds. The Lombardy is the go to place for my friends and myself now. Some things are a little wore/outdated but we found everything to be very clean and all the staff were delightful and tremendously helpful. The history alone of The Lombardy is interesting as well.
We booked a 1 bedroom suite with 2 queen beds. When we arrived we were greeted by a really nice bellman that helped us and our luggage into the hotel. We arrived super early so we weren’t expecting our room to be ready. The gentleman at the front desk went out of his way to find us a room that was available. He was so kind and very welcoming. This is the opposite to an experience we had at a nearby hotel a few days before. The lobby is beautiful and the hallways are wide I feel like a lot of hotels in NYC have narrow hallways but this place does not. Our room was great. Very clean and spacious especially for NY standards. I know the rooms are all different but we were very happy with our room. The doorman are all fantastic as well as the front desk staff. I wish we could have stayed longer but we were only staying for one night. The hotel is away from all the craziness and noise of midtown but if you want it, it’s a short walk. I visit NYC quite often and will definitely stay here in the future. The location is great and everyone we came in contact with was wonderful. I highly recommend.…
Great hotel to base yourself at in Midtown NY, close to Fifth Ave and Madison Ave for shopping, Bloomingdale’s close by too. Within walking distance of Central Park. Unfortunately the dining facilities were not available. Check your room before committing as they vary greatly across the hotel.
I was shocked at the size of the room. It’s huge. Nice bathroom and a galley kitchen. Huge cedar closet. Room decor is charming. Lobby is beautiful. It’s an old hotel still in her prime. Booked two months prior to our stay. Price was amazing. Great location if you want to be on the east side. A few touch ups in the room would make the hotel even better. The bathroom door needs painting and some of the wood could have touched up. I would 100% recommend staying at this gem of a hotel.
Superb NYC location, great staff, and beautiful large suite. We stayed in 1604, which was a corner suite with great light and comfortable decor. Gathering for a memorial service, unfortunately. But the large suite was great since there were many family and friends coming together. It felt like home.
Don't trust that the rooms are as pictured online. Mine wasn't! The response from the hotel. "Oh yeah, you got a bad room. Some of the others are nice." Seems like some rooms may have been remodeled and similar to the pictures but mine was a worn-out trip down a memory lane of forgotten furniture from the 1960's. What was there was stained and damaged. The amenities are lacking. No water glasses, a coffee maker without coffee or filters, no wash clothes, etc.
we had excellent stay, loved the staff and the housekeeping staff definitely great find when traveling with kids- we were able to walk to much of the city we wanted from location, the size of the 2 rooms we had was excellent, clean linen and overall clean decor- since air bib has been difficult in Nyc when coming home with large family, this is great find!
We are a group of 5 friends and we stayed in the 2 bed suite for 4 nights. it was fantastic, very clean and spacious. The hotel is in a great location for sightseeing in NY. We all loved it and will be back again!
This was the final leg of our road trip in the USA from New Orleans upwards ending in New York before flying home. Out of all the hotels and inns we stayed in this was the worst. I was so disappointed. I had been looking forward to this and with NYC being our last hurrah before our trip home and it was such a disappointment. When we arrived there was no welcome from the front desk. As we were checking in the phone rang and the receptionist (Daniel) continued to take the phone whilst at the same time mouthing instructions to me on how to fill in the form - rude - don't take a phone call when you are already dealing with a guest. We were sent first of all to our first room which had a rollaway bed in there for some bizarre reason. The room was dirty - the view looked onto the roof of other properties literally full of garbage bags and various parts of construction too. The bathroom also wasn't particularly clean. We were then shown a second room on the 20th floor - the bed area was tiny crammed into a small area with a lounge. The skirting boards were falling off the wall, there were loose plug sockets. We were then offered a third room. By this time we were hot, tired, fed up and disappointed. Now at least on the 14th floor. Disappointing but an improvement. The a/c was ancient - we had to operate it by opening up a flap at the side, stick our hands down it to rotate a dial to turn up/down etc. It was filthy and boy did it rattle. The whole room was tired and in need of extensive refurbishment. The grouting around the tub needed redoing, it was mouldy (I hate grouting like that). There was a crack on the toilet cistern lid. The on-site restaurant is not in operation, neither are the salons etc - not sure therefore why they charge a resort fee - this is no resort!!! That will just be to cover the WiFi which is ridiculous. The bellman was actually very helpful and patient as we kept looking at different rooms. The day before we left we asked if we could have a late check out (as requested at the time of booking although appreciate that's a "request") as our flight was not until the evening just so that we could shower and change. Daniel (again unfortunately) was less than accommodating and said that they couldn't as our room was already booked for the next guest and the hotel was almost full. (Therefore not full.) I said we didn't need that room, just any room for shower/change. Oh well we would need to be charged a full day's rate - why? We're not staying a full day. Then he said we can keep the existing room for half a day's rate (so now it's not booked for the next guest presumably?) which we reluctantly agreed to. The following day (Daniel again), we went to check out. Again, no charm, no niceties, no "thank you for staying" etc. We explained that we wanted to pay our charge in cash as we needed to get rid of our dollars. This seemed to be a big issue and much grumbling from Daniel all to do with when the cashier would be in blah blah blah. I said why was this so difficult, we're paying in cash (and we're not talking thousands of dollars here!!) and just don't charge our credit card. Eventually he agreed (big deal) and signed the charge form to show that we had paid. Surprise, surprise when I checked my credit card statement they had charged me for the room rate again. I contacted them and admittedly they apologised but then I am out of pocket for the typical business days for the refund to be processed and again am out of pocket due to the fluctuations in the exchange rate between the charge and the credit. As I said out of all the hotels we stayed at in our long road trip, this was the worst and being the last hotel, left a bitter taste in the mouth. Yes the location is great but that doesn't outweigh the numerous bad points particularly when NYC offers so many other hotels. And people bang on about how there is a kettle, toaster, microwave, fridge etc. - why? Why is this so important? A kettle/fridge maybe but who is cooking a meal/eating toast in a hotel bedroom in NYC!!!??? Honestly, do yourself a favour, don't stay here. If you've booked and you can cancel without additional fees then honestly cancel it, then change to another hotel or at least make sure you have the time and patience to make sure the room you are given is decent.…
