The hotel is undoubtedly a New York landmark with comfortable and well-sized rooms, attentive staff and beautiful views over-looking the Central Park. It could however benefit from a revamp, specially in what it regards the old air conditioning equipment and worn out black-out curtains.
What a lovely place to stay in New York. Upon arrival, we walked in to the lobby which is smaller, has a lower, intimate ceiling height and is decked out in dark and light marble. The lobby is not the most "impressive", but absolutely everything...More

Thank you so much for this thoughtful review. You have captured the essence of what we try to achieve every day. The 39th floor is the highest hotel floor, with the best views! We hope to see you again soon.
I took my mother to New York for her 84th birthday to celebrate. From the moment we checked in until the moment we checked out, the service we received was incredible, friendly, funny and personal.

It's not the most luxurious hotel but it is still very nice. Rooms are spacious by NYC standards. High-quality linens and bath amenities. Excellent service; better than some higher rated NYC hotels. Great location. If you like old, charming and still serviceable, this is a...More

Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the
neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
