This is my third time staying at the Waldorf in the past year and I don't think I'm going back. You hear the word Waldorf and you think classic elegance. The problem is the rooms are dated, it pains me to say this, it is a "has been". Location is great so I hope one day they refurbish but those... More

My husband and I could not have been happier with this hotel. The location was is walking distance of everything we wanted to see; Central Park, the shops on 5th Avenue, and so on. We were upgraded to a suite and the room was huge and beautiful. The lobby and public areas have been perfectly maintained to highlight it's original... More

This aging bastion of once grand hotel experiences is much past it's prime. The Grand Dame of high end NY hotels has retained the high prices for which she may have once qualified. How ever the aged dowager of the NY luxury hotel scene is long past her prime and in significant need of an up date. The service is... More

The lineage is hear. On the other hand, lineage simply is since it can't be changed retroactively. Certainly the location and the structure are a reminder of the importance of the place. But the Waldorf is like a lady or a gentleman of a certain age - best seen through the lens of nostalgia. Two of us were in town... More

This hotel is a grand old lady. The public areas are beautiful. Elegant and impressive. The bedrooms are a little worn but really comfortable and well equipped. I would definitely stay here again. The service is flawless and professional.

we were given a king superior on the 15th floor. We loved the room. If there was any issue it was that the water pressure was not very much and the water was soft, which made rinsing off taking a little longer. The bed was so comfortable. The closet well equipped w space, 2 bathrobes and iron and ironing board.... More

Bar the Plaza I can think of no better known hotel in New York. It's history and charm were key reasons why I selected the hotel for a recent trip to New York. Love the location of this hotel and never tire of the entry and grand lobby. Living history. We've had several room types over the years. I stayed at the Waldorf Astoria in New York for one night on a business trip. Whilst the hotel lobby is grand, the rooms are a let down. This place is resting on its laurels. Yes, some of the public spaces are splendid. Yes, it is a Manhattan landmark with a distinguished history. In fairness, the host at Peacock Alley the evening of 26 September was a standout: smart, gracious and perhaps the best I had ever encountered. That is all I can find good to say. The... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
