Firstly, this hotel is in a fantastic location; walking distance to Central Park and the subway. Even though the hotel does not have it's own restaurant it is surrounded by numerous restaurants and bars of very high quality especially in Amsterdam Ave. There is also...More
My husband and I just spent 3 uncomfortable nights at The Lucerne Hotel in New York City. The program that he was taking degree up keep courses at Columbia, had arranged for a special low rate for us to stay at The Lucerne, with a...More
Stayed in mid-August 2012 and loved it. The room was huge with two good-sized beds in it, the bathroom was lovely and we had a great view of Amsterdam Avenue. Staff were great too. This will be our New York Hotel.

Nestled between Central Park and the Hudson River, the Upper West Side offers iconic architecture and a quiet, residential respite from the buzzing energy of downtown. Along Central Park West are many of the city’s most iconic apartment buildings, as well as the American Museum of Natural History, which has been welcoming visitors to its historic exhibit halls for over 140 years. Culture fans will love Lincoln Center,
home to some of the world’s best opera, dance, film, and theatre performances, all centrally located around a beautiful fountain. Spanning the entire length of the Upper West Side, Riverside Park is ideal for a long, leisurely stroll in a quiet green space.

As others have mentioned, the spa is indicated on the 2nd floor, but we have never used it in the many times that we have stayed at the Lucerne. I can't say for sure that the massage would be given there, but I think that it is more likely to be in the spa than in the room.
