On our recent trip to New York City, I was looking for a nice place to stay in midtown Manhattan.
I chose the Hotel Metro because of its location and a change from the big chain hotels.
We upgraded our room for $20 a night...More
Great midtown location a few blocks south of Times Square and the theater district and a few blocks north of Madison Sq. Garden and Chelsea. Many Korean restaurants (regular and Bar-B-Q) on the block.
Reasonable price for a last minute reservation (less than $200). Hotel...More
We stayed in New York for a week in early October to celebrate my wife's 50th birthday. When we checked in we were pleased to be upgraded from a premier queen to premier king room on the 12th floor. We also found a bottle of...More
Although we were offered an upgraded room, it was quite small, and it greeted us with a bad smell of frying food that wafted frequently during our stay. The tiny bathroom is well appointed. Housekeeping service was slow and late -the room was never ready...More
Had a great stay at this hotel - had a premier double on 8th floor facing the street and Empire State Building- it was spacious and quiet and very clean. The complimentary breakfast was enough to start the day off - delicious muffins! Also great...More

This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the
affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.

My wife and I were there in April and didn’t pre-book anything. We didn’t have any problems getting into the main attractions. However, for you a lot will depend on the weather. Personally I wouldn’t pre book. Hotel Metro very good, excellent location.
If you’re flying into JFK and don’t have a pre-arranged transfer to Hotel Metro. Get one of the ‘Official’ Yellow Taxis 🚕 immediately outside the arrivals hall. There is an official stand. You get a ticket which you hand to the driver. From memory it costs $52 plus tip ($72) in total, but it’s worth it, hassle free. Don’t go with one of the unofficial taxi touts, we heard of horror stories were people were charges $160. The Bell Hop at the hotel can arrange your return, it’s really worth it. Another tip, get a 7 day Metro Card from the Metro stations, can be used on all Metro Trains and local busses 🚌 saved us a small fortune. Dave
