Loved the location; so close to South Street but also walking distance to the Old City. Breakfasts were wonderful and loved Norma. She is delightful and very helpful. Beware if you can't tolerate cats or walk up steep winding stairs, look elsewhere.

Great location to walk to everything. Definately not the Ritz, but priced accordingly. If you are looking for a place to drop your head with a hot breakfast, this is the place. Nothing fancy, but comfortable. Steep stairs so not for anyone who has difficulties with that. I would stay again should I be in the area.

We stayed here for 2 nights in September. This row house has been lovingly restored by Norma and is a very interesting place to stay. There are only 2 guest rooms which makes it quite an intimate place. We were in the guest room on the 2nd floor which is large and comfortable. Breakfast was good and we enjoyed the... More

Norma was a fantastic host, welcoming and incredibly concerned and helpful when our car was towed away! The house was clean, spacious and tastefully decorated. Breakfast was freshly prepared and cooked for us. It was affordable and in a pretty area accessible to shops, cafes, restaurants, bars and the historic part of town. It provided us with everything and more... More

While I don't want to sully the reputation of the landlady, I feel I must be honest. Yes, the building that houses this B&B may very well be 200 years old. Norma, the owner and landlady, told me she's been running this B&B for 30+ years. Apparently, the building was a shell when she bought it, and she transformed it... More

As the person responsible for booking your stay at the New Market Bed and Breakfast, I would like to respond to your critique. While it seems like the location worked well for you, and the hostess was extremely accommodating to your requests, it appears that the actual accommodation did not meet your expectations. Some of the quirky elements of the... More

This place only has two rooms, we got the one on the top floor (narrow and kind of steep stairs). A very large room with a big bed, nice bathroom and room for closets and armchairs, and even a love seat under the window. Norma who owns the place is a great lady, we had some nice breakfast conversations with... More

We had a wonderful stay with Norma in her charming row house just steps from the Delaware river. Breakfast was delicious and conversation was lively. In some ways, it felt more like we were staying in a friend's house than in a bed and breakfast. The room was large, clean, and nicely furnished. Independence Hall was about a 15-20 minute... More

This is a wonderful restored home in the historic district and near Independence Hall. The hostess is accommodating, engaging, and knowledgable about the area and transportation. It is great to be able to walk out the door and start immediately enjoying the history and architecture of Philadelphia. We were in town for University of Pennsylvania graduation, but a bus stops... This was my second stay on the 3rd floor of Norma's B&B. I love the location - close to downtown and near the best Mexican restaurant. Norma has great taste and is a lovely, attentive hostess. Excellent home made breakfasts. Excellent value. If you are looking for a modern, spotless place - you may be disappointed. The house was lovingly... More

Visited Philly with another couple for 3 nights and truly enjoyed our stay at this historic home. Our host was very accommodating. The three breakfasts were delicious. The stairs are small and typical of such a old house. We walked or used cab service. This is in a great location. The rooms were clean and spacious. The other couple had... More

“Rooms are quiet despite convenient proximity to the highway. The 3rd floor room has two twin beds that can be joined to make a king. This is a very old rowhouse and the stairs are unique and tight.”
