Staying here will give you a taste of what it's like to live in the city. Plenty of choices for a continental breakfast and close to area attractions and public transportation. Roughly halfway between Independence Hall and South Street.

We spent 1 week during an international congress at the Philadelphia Convention Center. The location is perfect (for the congress and for tourism), the house is historical with very confortable accomodation. Nice breakfast and room.
Harry and Marilyn are charming and helped us a lot for practical things about the city: shuttles to the airport, restaurants, concerts, etc...
We absolutely recommend this place.
Enjoy it!
Rafael.

Stayed 3 nights. Great location, Musty odor in stairwell. For 3 nights 2 person stay was expected to use only one towel and wash cloth a piece for the 3 nights. Not accommodating when offered to pay additional for more bath linens. Blinds dirty filled with cobwebs, Bed uncomfortable. Not much of a breakfast. No telephone, no internet. Dark room - only windows were too high to see out. Room could use some updating and repairs.

We spent four nights at this very nicely renovated historic home. we had a second floor room. Currently the third floor rooms are not being rented, but would be a stiff climb to access. The hosts, Harry and Marilyn Appel, are charming and were helpful in guiding us to the sights we wanted to see. The Society hill neighborhood is charming. The house is only three blocks to Washington Square and Independence Hall. It is within walking distance of most of the old town historical sites, City Hall and the Philadelphia Art museum. We would go back.

I've stayed here several times and always had an enjoyable experience. The hosts make me feel right at home and are very helpful with recommendations for restaurants and places to see and visit. The rooms are always very clean and comfortable. Being near historic sites and South Street is an added bonus!
