We stayed for three nights in the Adobe House, a self-catering cottage, operated by Belton Chalet. We were there in early October, so the main lodge and restaurant were closed. However, we found the Adobe House simply delightful. Historic structure with near-period furnishings, cozy fireplace...More

Thank you for staying with us. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay in our Adobe house and look forward to having you back!
We have eaten here before several times when visiting West Glacier area....when ever we meet new folks staying around this area, including Apgar in the park, we suggest trying Belton Chalet for excellent dinner or great place to chill and eat appetizers. They have great...More
I really liked this well-restored hotel which was built originally to accommodate passengers arriving by train for Glacier National Park. Therein lies the problem. It's next to multiple very active rail lines. There was constant rail noise all day and night. This is not to...More
At 9 pm the temperature in our first-floor room was 84 degrees. That's with the ceiling fan on and a small ocillating fan on high. Because of forest fires in the area, we were reluctant to open the window, but we were finally forced to...More
Someone spent a lot of work restoring this quaint historic 1910 Chalet built as a way station for those traveling to Glacier National Park by train. It doesn't have as stunning of a setting as some of the other hotels and lodges inside Glacier National...More

The station is right across the street from the Belton in West Glacier. Next door to the station is a little ranger station with a very helpful ranger. He sold us a great trail map. Remember, getting to the park will cost you $5 on the shuttle which only goes once in the morning and once at night. Same for leaving the park to get back to the Belton. Next time we plan to either bring our bikes take the shuttle into the park when we arrive and stay inside the park where the shuttles are free. Four of our favorite hikes were Trail of cedars to Avalanche Lake. St. Mary Falls and Virginia Falls are amazing and both on the same trail and the views of the mountains are spectacular. Logan Pass visitor center has two good trails that start there. The trail to hidden lake usually affords views of wildlife and when we were there lots of snow. Highline trail is very popular, but only my husband did it as the steep and narrow path wasn't my cup of tea.
