Our West Glacier hotel host recommended Belton Chalet and we were delighted with our meal.
It is easily a 4 star restaurant: we shared a hummus appetizer and delicious veal with purple cabbage and a mushroom sauce. Our waiter was very attentive and my water...More
200 USD per night per room size of handkerchief. Sorry. I know that it must be hard to survive as the season lasts only 4 moth there, but I do not recommend to pay this kind of money for the room containing nothing but a...More
The food was truly above-average (I tried their bison meatloaf, which was to die for, and I don't even like meatloaf), but stay away from the outdoor tables in front, next to the highway. I felt as if we were eating at a racetrack (unbelievably...More
We stayed in Clark Cabin, which has three queen bedrooms and one bathroom, as well as a large common room. The bathroom was laid out well, and the shower worked well once we figured out how to switch water flow to the shower - switching...More
We booked this hotel because we could not get lodging in the park and it was right across the street from the Amtrak station, which we were arriving on from Seattle. The hotel was quaint, and the staff very nice. One thing I would like...More

The station is right across the street from the Belton in West Glacier. Next door to the station is a little ranger station with a very helpful ranger. He sold us a great trail map. Remember, getting to the park will cost you $5 on the shuttle which only goes once in the morning and once at night. Same for leaving the park to get back to the Belton. Next time we plan to either bring our bikes take the shuttle into the park when we arrive and stay inside the park where the shuttles are free. Four of our favorite hikes were Trail of cedars to Avalanche Lake. St. Mary Falls and Virginia Falls are amazing and both on the same trail and the views of the mountains are spectacular. Logan Pass visitor center has two good trails that start there. The trail to hidden lake usually affords views of wildlife and when we were there lots of snow. Highline trail is very popular, but only my husband did it as the steep and narrow path wasn't my cup of tea.
