We have been trying for a year to make a reservation with this lodge, we were told that we had to wait until 6 months before the dates we wanted to stay to make our reservation. Called 2 months ago and was told the same...More

Thank you for your candid feedback. We sincerely apologize if there was some misunderstanding about when our lodge becomes available for booking for the summer season. Our website states that reservations for the next season are available December 1 and that message is...More

We stayed at the GB Lodge and on the next day took their cruise of the bay. We flew in to the Gustavus airport and the lodge picked us up in their bus. We arrived at the lodge and they had our rooms ready and...More
To start, it is the ugliest lodge that we have seen in the National Park system. It looks like string of storage sheds joined together. Inside our room was cold, the heat didn't work. We had no hot water in the shower and no one...More
The best of Glacier Bay Lodge was the boat tour. We saw wilderness, glaciers, sea otters, bear fishing in a stream, and mountain goats. The food at the lodge was exceptional. We enjoyed sitting on the deck for dinner. The rooms were dated but comfortable.

As at most lodges within national parks, the food is somewhat expensive, in the $18 to $32 range. It's higher for more exotic meat. Generally, food is more expensive in Alaska because most of it has to be shipped in by boat or plane. Now, depending on what you plan on doing in the Glacier Bay area, you need to figure the costs of getting to and from Bartlett Cove by taxi or whatever. Since I stayed at the Glacier Bay Lodge, I didn't have that expense. Plus, the Lodge has a free bus that goes to the airport for drop off and pick up each afternoon (the only time a plane lands in Gustavus). Most bed and breakfast only include breakfast and might have an evening meal, but nothing at lunch. Hope this helps.
