We have stayed twice at Nelson's Travelers Rest and have enjoyed our stay very much. Good location. You have to book well in advance of your stay because they seem to fill quickly. The cabins are clean and well equipped. We enjoy their evening campfire and getting to know the other guests. The owners are very friendly and accommodating!

I loved this place from the time they called me back after I left a message (within 10 minutes) to the friendliness of the owners when I checked in. I stayed in the Motel which offered a big room, small but clean shower and chairs to sit out on the porch and have a cocktail. The price is right and...

Nice Rustic decorations with motel and cabins with Lake Superior view. We stayed in the motel. Operated by a nice couple who have owned the business for over 20 years. Comfortable beds, nice walk in shower with handles on three sides, cable television and WiFi. Very clean throughout and lighting was good. Coffee maker, Microwave and refrigerator in our room....

They gave away one of our cabins for the last night of our stay to people who had not even arrived yet. We had traveled over 5 hours with a 14 month old to get there. When we tried to resolve the situation with the man who checked us in, a woman (the owner?) appeared and began hurling obscenities and...

have never been treated more poorly as a paying customer than by the owners at Nelson's. Just because you make a reservation with them does NOT guarantee you will be granted what you thought you had reserved. They shorted us a night at one of their cabins and refused to correct their mistake. In addition, they were condescending, rude, and...

Tom and Pat were very friendly, the cabins are very well maintained and clean. This was a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle, but still close to town where you can enjoy a great meal at a variety of locations. Beautiful area to visit with many close by state parks that offer stunning views.

We stayed 8 nights in cabin 4. We were a little nervous on our way up north because a previous reviewer complained about the furniture. The couch was a little sinky, but we slept well in the beds. We had counter and shelf space for toiletries in the bathroom, which is my usual gripe about other cabins we've stayed at....

TRIP ADVISOR REVIEW Easy on the wallet, hard on the back and knees, if stay is more than 2 days! Chairs in cabins are unstable & dangerous. Sofas have seen better days. If you are over 5 feet tall and weigh over 100 pounds you will be uncomfortable; getting off the sofa/ chair will be difficult as there is no...

I have always had a nostalgic attraction to resorts with cabins. Nelson's cabins are well maintained and clean. They are a good value as compared to other hotels in Grand Marais. The location makes it possible to walk to town for attractions and restaurants. We stayed in a unit that had 2 bedrooms, kitchen and living room. This was very...
