Second time staying at Dutchess and it remains a lovely spit to be. Food is great and the staff is very attentive. The owners also take great pride in the property. If you are visiting Ft. Portal you should visit Dutchess.

This was the 3rd time I stayed at the Dutchess. When we arrived we were told there was no water as the tank was under repair. No problem as we could wash up in the restaurant restrooms and we had a leisurely lunch. Eventually Christian came to tell us that the repair was complete but needed to check in each...

We spent 2 night in Dutchess Guesthouse. The beds were so comfortable and the rooms were well equipped and modern. The Guesthouse is in a great location and you can walk to the main street of Fort Portal. The restaurant overlooks a nice garden and it was a pleasure to enjoy our meals on the terrace enjoying some sunshine and...

While I was staying there, I sometimes forgot I was in Africa. Meals were very high quality and so delicious, rooms were very clean. Wifi is very strong and speedy. They produce electricity by solar power, so even when the entire city is out of power, this hotel has electricity. I've been in Africa for almost 6 months, but the...

My team stayed and ate dinner and breakfast at the Duchess. The Dutch owners ensure a professional approach to management and housekeeping. The restaurant had just changed over Chef, and we hope he tries to add some more local fresh produce and nationally inspired food. Across Uganda we got tired of the international dominated cuisine, done poorly. The standout element of...

We spent three nights in this charming hotel and enjoyed the exquisite cuisine, like the superb pizza or a delicious veggie curry. The rooms are spacious and tastefully furnished (we saw two of them) with good mosquito nets. Wifi connection is reliable. The staff is very friendly and forthcoming. The garden and veranda are quiet and a good place to...

Small, quaint, efficient hotel in the middle of town. It's on the outskirts of a small, well kept town so one enjoys the quiet, peaceful ambience. Sitting in the gardens gives a great view of rural settings with fresh air. The food is good, especially the pizzas and home made ice cream. The rooms are small and cosy and well...
