One of the true highlights of our African adventure. Much to our relief, the gravel access roads were easy to navigate in a normal car.The Umzinyathi Farmhouse was exceptional - worth every cent. It was perfectly set up for self catering, beautifully furnished, incredibly comfortable & Margaret looked after us like we were family. Our only regret was that we...

Fantastic historical tours told with passion for the subject. Buildings are a little bit old with some maintenance issues although renovations have been planned. the dining experience is superb and the service is personal and very caring

Outstanding in every respect. For most visitors the key factor will be the guided battlefield trips and they have this absolutely nailed. The high standards set by the late and much mourned David Rattray, about which we had heard so much, are being successfully maintained by his family. Every aspect of our stay was genuinely outstanding, perhaps helped a little...

I have held a fascination with the Anglo-Zulu and Anglo-Boer Wars since I was a small child. Many school holidays were spent in the Battlefields with my parents and their friends who live in and around the Ladysmith/Dundee areas. I was delighted recently to go with a very good friend of mine to traverse the Anglo-Zulu Battlefields, as an adult...

Perfect in every way. The most beautiful rooms with the most delicious food, and wonderful staff who went above and beyond to make our visit so perfcf. Above all, fascinating tours accounted with utmost passion, knowledge and detail. A real highlight of our trip. Faultless.

For the lodge first. Everything is decorated with refined taste with beautiful furniture and a lot of original pieces of the nearby battlefields. The staff is extremely friendly, especially Grace (hi Grace ! :) ) and they're a lot of signposted paths that you can follow, walking or cycling amongst giraffes and antelopes. And for history and battlefields...The place itself...

Arriving just before lunch for a 2 night stay, we were made very welcome & shown our lovely room at the Lodge. Bright & airy with good beds, chairs both inside & outside, we felt very much at home. Large bathroom with good sized shower. An excellent lunch was taken in the library in a group situation, whilst dinner is...

We had planned to stay at Isandlwana Lodge, but they wanted R3,600.00 per person per night. So we carried on to Rorkes Drift Hotel which is a great place (from previous experience), but was closed. As night drew near we tried to get to Rorke's Drift Lodge on a long extremely bad road - no chance to pass unless driving...

We stayed at Fugitives Drift Guest House in early August in two very comfortable, homely, adjacent cottages. Driving in to the estate, to our huge excitement, we encountered giraffe, zebra and impala. Our hosts were charming and made us feel at completely at ease - as did the dogs (particularly Spud!). It was as if we were friends of the family...
