This is a Wonderful Lodge, in a Wonderful location, I'm loathe to let the rest of the World know about this place... The owners and staff were fantastic, they were beyond helpful, along with their incredible knowledge about the battle sites, our trip was made memorable by a personal guided tour with the owner. I gladly recommend Rorke's Drift Lodge....

Thank you for this great review and for pointing out that the secret lies in reading all the literature we provide. We always endeavour to give as much information to our guests as possible in order that they can enjoy not only the tours but our wonderful pristine area too. And in the days of information overload we hope that...

Climbing up the mountain in the car was an exciting experience. The accommodation and facilities were exceptional. Breakfast and dinner were served in style in our dining room. Views from rooms overlooking the historic valley below stunning -one could see the Battlefields vista and countryside from the apartment. Christine was a marvellous hostess and we would go back again.

We stayed in the Kubili unit - nice, clean and very enjoyable. Well equipped kitchen and BBQ facilities, lovely view and nice to see horses as well as some small game (duiker & kudu) on the farm. The roads in and around which give access are dirt roads, so don't plan on doing too much travelling when you get here...close...

Thank you for your great review. And thank you for highlighting the road conditions. However, we must add that if you come in a vehicle that has good clearance driving around is not a chore at all. In fact, we have some guests who come here specifically to drive on our roads as they find it quite exciting.

We stayed with friends 2 nights at Rorke's Drift Lodge and it was great! The "road" to the lodge was a real experience, luckely our friend had a good car for this kind of roads. But when we arrived and take our first glass of wine the view was beautiful. The dinners at night where great and our trip to...

Thank you for your great review. And for highlighting the fact that there is another battlefield for our guests to visit besides Rorke's Drift and Isandlwana. Our views over the Zululand plains are a great attraction and we are so pleased when our guests can enjoy them as much as we do. Safe travels on your next adventure.

We travelled down via Swaziland (from Kruger National Park) soaking up the countryside thru Piet Retief and Vryheid. We were advised not to rely on the Sat Nav for the route near Dundee to Rorkes Drift - so a brief call and precise directions got us to the Lodge just as the sun was setting. The 4x4 ensured a trouble...

Rorke's Drift Lodge may not be easy to access, but the effort is rewarded by a genuine & comfortable stay, literally miles from anywhere with tremendous views & total peace. It gives an impresssion of how it must have been for the early settlers miles, isolated & self reliant. We had not realised it was set up as a self...

Thank you for your review. It is interesting to note that the person who reviewed us last under the heading Excellent Stay highlighted the fact that he had driven up in a small car and that he didn't find the road difficult at all. This is such a subjective experience for all our guests and it depends entirely on the...

Lovely setting- excellent food- and then drive to the Lodge was not too daunting and manageable in a small hired car. When booking a guide for the battlefield tour request the Zulu guide, he was very knowledgeable and interesting.

Thank you for taking the time to send in a review. And for giving us 5 stars! And for highlighting that our road is not such a bad experience. It is a farm track and affords our such seclusion that we don't want to change it.

The Lodge although remote is very well presented and clearly African in nature. The accommodation was very comfortable and relaxing and the food excellent. The service was admirable and the welcome heartfelt. It is a unique place and a unique travel destination and the remoteness did not put me off. In fact this was one of the attractions. The countryside...

What a beautiful place at the end of a bumpy unmade road. Our rooms were lovely, with comfortable beds and excellent showers. The views are stunning. We had pre booked our suppers and they were delicious. We were looked after extremely well. The reason for a four instead of a five star is solely because one of the dogs bit...

Thank you so much for your review. And of course we are mortified that our little dog would have bitten your husband. We try to keep our dogs away from our guests as much as possible, but with so many dog lovers in the world our guests tend to spoil and indulge our dogs too much. As a result, when...

We visited the place for the first time in 2011 and thoroughly enjoyed the gorgeous view, the great hospitality and the tranquility. We were so much fascinated that we came back this year, and again it was a great success. The concept is slightly changed now, i.e., it is self-catering....but we actually found this to be advantageous as we could...
