Our reservations were booked with co-workers for two rooms. My co-workers had a drastically different room from the one they gave us. The room was very small, the carpet pieced together, seemed like a smoking room (all other rooms had non-smoking) except for this one. My co-worker and I requested to be moved and were told there were no availability...

Even though our party booked two rooms at the same time, the room that my co-worker and I were placed in was drastically smaller than our co-workers room. We were charged the same price for a room which looked like it once had been the maid's closet. The carpet was pieced together, and looked dirty. The bathroom was so small...

I am so sorry that the size of your room was not to your liking. We are a historic building that has been converted into a hotel many years ago. Every room in the hotel is a little different than others. Yes that particular room is on the small side, but i believe there were other double rooms available that...

I come back here because of the character of the building and the people working here. It's full of stories and in a great location around the corner from the Suppernong Bookstore and a number of excellent restaurants.

Adorable and fascinating. For such an old building the rooms are large and comfortable. And pets stay free so that's a win for me! It feels cool to get a real key for your room, not a card to swipe. I like those the best

My title explains it all. It is old so expect creaky floors, an older smell, older bathrooms and the best is the old time elevator--- these things bring it is Quaint charm! The location is wonderful and is perfect for exploring and touring the city. A couple things to add--- I slept on the day bed and the comforter you...

Thank you for your review, in the future should you have the suite with the day bed...you will find that under the sheet the day bed is made up as a typical bed is. We top sheet over it so that the parts that you sleep under is not the same as you sit on...I apologize if our staff didn't...

Everything was wonderful about the hotel, the breakfast the wine and cheese, the atmosphere, the staff, the homey feeling. The only downfall was we parked across the street where they stated it was free parking for us to book and I received a $35 citation that the Biltmore Hotel would not cover for us and that cost me an additional...

So glad that you enjoyed yourself. We apologize for the parking deck...we have no control of the deck, the postings on where guests may or may not park inside the deck. we merely validate guests parking. I hope that this has not tarnished your opinion of our property and hope to see you again soon!

Stayed overnight here on a weeknight with my fiancé . . . I am sorry to hear that you found the mattresses not to your standard. Our mattresses are not that old and all are pillow top Serta Dreamsleep. I apologize for the discomfort...giving the issue we would have been more than happy to change rooms. Safe Travels and as the GM i will address your concern.

Great location for activity in downtown Greensboro. Old hotel, well maintained with history. Breakfast and wine and cheese in the evening complimentary. Parking also included. Small hotel so no bar or restaurant on sight, but plenty in walking distance.

Our stay was wonderful. Love the original details of this historic building. Love the creepiness of the building as well. Would be a 5 star hotel but the beds were uncomfortable and the breakfast was below average.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Our history begins in 1903, when the building was constructed to house the burgeoning corporate empire of Cone Export and Commission Company. At the time it was said to be “in every way up-to-date and well appointed.” This means completed wired for electricity and plumbing, and in 1920, they added one of Greensboro’s first unmanned elevators to the building; it is the one we still use today. They occupied the space until 1924 when they moved to larger building around the corner. At that time, the building housed local insurance companies. It was in 1929, that the building was converted to living quarters. Half of the building was used as an annex to the local post office, until 1932, and the other half was listed in the city directory as furnished rooms. The Greenwich, as it became known as the following year, was one of the first to offer private baths for around $2.00 a day. In the late ‘40s, early 50s, it became known as the Greenwich Apartments and stayed this way until the mid-1960s. In the late ‘60s, the building reopened as the Greenwich Inn, and a new face was brought to the building by renowned interior designer Otto Zenke. He modeled the hotel after an English hunting club and decorated the lobby as an old world drawing-room with walnut paneling and traditional hunting scenes. The hotel changed ownership once again 1992, and was renamed the Biltmore Greensboro Hotel. Today, we pride ourselves as a fine boutique establishment, offering old world charm accentuated by modern amenities you would find at any hotel of distinction. Under new ownership since 2007, we look forward to continuing to provide memorable experiences for all our guests. Stay once and not only will we remember your name but the little things like your favorite room or you need for a late checkout. It is always “no problem.” ... more   less
