Kuramathi Maldives is often celebrated for its serene atmosphere and beautiful decor that ensures a relaxed and comfortable stay. The resort's staff are lauded for their attentive service, although there have been some inconsistencies with buggy services and check-in/out procedures. With its diverse amenities, including several pools, dining options, and superb snorkeling, guests find much to enjoy, despite some concerns about value for money. The rooms are generally commended for their variety, comfort, and cleanliness. Set in a stunning location, the resort offers spacious villas and breathtaking views, all maintained with an impressive focus on cleanliness.

Kuramathi is an amazing resort in a truly beautiful location.

Getting to the island is by 2 means - seaplane or boat. We opted for seaplane and the airport lounge for the seaplane immediately showed that we were going to a 4* resort. The seaplane was a great experience to see the various islands as we flew over them.

As we arrived we were met with a drink and a welcome pack including restaurant reservations for the first 3 nights. We were then taken by golf buggy taxi to our room and the luggage followed after in good time.

There is a range of rooms to suit all budgets from garden villas to the honeymoon suite.

Our room had Aircon, WiFi, a comfortable large king bed, mini bar fridge (alcohol chargeable), safe, internet enabled TV, separate outdoor bathroom with a shower and double sink. In the garden a better shower and a hot tub (be warned the hot tub is fresh water filled and we had to get the water changed as there were bugs in it - chlorinated water is always more hygienic).

The selection of restaurants and bars is very good if you invest in the select dining option, otherwise from the receipts we have been signing it could be a very costly holiday indeed. As such in my opinion it is better to invest in that option even against 'better' rooms if you are considering that as an option. Rooms are made up in the morning and turned down in the evening (only aspect was that the staff wouldn't replace a glass that had liquid in it so if you want clean glasses make sure they are empty!).

There are multiple bookable restaurants and it is advised to book these as far in advance as possible to ensure you get the restaurants you wish to visit.
All restaurants offer a wide variety of food covering all aspects.

The issue with dining mainly sits with the accommodation of vegetarian/vegan options. There does not seem to be consistency across the various bookable restaurants in relation to what they offer. One night the only real vegetarian options in the Thai restaurant consisted of tofu, only to be told after ordering that they had run out... But this was just one restaurant, on one night. Other restaurants had better choices.

The resort has never felt crowded. Staff are always warm and friendly.

A perfect place for our honeymoon!

Update: The return journey was unfortunately the most stressful part of the holiday. The seaplane was over an hour late, but the staff were helpful and got us as far as they could through the airport and thankfully the flight was delayed... Meaning we caught the flight with 5 mins to spare!!!

It also has to be noted that we booked through Kuoni and they were helpful at the airport both ways but we found the rep on site did not add anything to our experience, in fact we found it that she had been in contact with another couple on a regular basis even helping them get an item from the Male. We heard nothing from her... Thankfully the resort covered all the bases and we didn't need her support which was just as well.

In summary, an amazing island, perfect for honeymoons and time to relax!

Dear Simon T, Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback about your honeymoon experience at Kuramathi. We are truly delighted to hear that you found our resort to be an amazing getaway in such a stunning location. We are glad that you opted for the seaplane transfer and enjoyed the breathtaking views along the way. It’s wonderful to know that our welcoming amenities and prompt service made a positive impression upon your arrival. We appreciate your insights regarding the accommodation options and the amenities in your room. Your feedback on the hot tub and the need for clearer guidelines on the glass replacement during turn-down service is invaluable, and we will address these points with our team to enhance our guest experience. We are pleased that you found our selection of restaurants and bars enjoyable. However, we apologize if you found inconsistency you experienced with vegetarian and vegan options. We will work closely with our culinary team to ensure a wider variety of choices across all dining venues. Thank you for highlighting the exceptional service from our team members, along with your overall experience of relaxing on the island. We are committed to providing a peaceful environment for our guests. We understand the challenges you faced during your return journey by seaplane. Seaplane transfers are typically coordinated together, and operational factors may occasionally lead to delays. Since the seaplane operator is a third-party company, we don't have complete control over their operations. Nonetheless, we will forward your feedback to them to enhance this point in the future. Once again, thank you for your kind words and constructive feedback. We would love to welcome you back for another unforgettable stay in the future. Warmest regards, The Kuramathi Team

I was worried about heading out to such a beautiful island .. I expected kuramathi to be full of pretentious insta hungry couples, how wrong was I.. The island is so laid back floaty dresses and flip flops is all you require for fabulous island nights. During the day we don’t know where everyone went the beaches are beautifully deserted- no fighting for sun loungers! We spent our days watching the harmless black tip sharks - don’t forget your snorkel & mask. Arrival by seaplane is a must, the lounge is beautiful! Views of the different islands and atols are simply something else. Once on the island you’re welcomed with a welcome drink and a cool towel - quick chat with the rep then whisked off to our accommodation. We stayed in a beach villa (44) we were blown away by all of the little details the ‘room boy’ went out of his way to provide. The shower was a bit daunting (outside) but after the second night I didn’t care - quite liberating really! We stayed on an All Inclusive Select basis- highly recommend, we tried all of the 9 restaurants - Palm being our favourite, Not sure about the Duniye restaurant - a bit high brow for the island menu didn’t appeal to my uncultured palette- albeit the food was beautifully served by the all female servers. There’s a few bars along the island all within an easy walk but there’s always a buggy going up & down with plenty of stops. The bars have various entertainment on throughout the week - check boards at the receptions, resident band is pretty good, resident DJ was fantastic - felt sorry for him as no one got up in fung bar, maybe a few more of the fantastic cocktails and we would’ve all been up all night 😉 No downside to kuramathi other than mosquitoes at night, we found the jungle formula spray worked.

We stayed in the 2 bedroom beach house in mid-June with 2 small children, which was very spacious. The lower floor would have been enough for us if there had been a second extra sofa 😂

The weather was fantastic in mid-June. We had 5-minute drizzle twice in 10 days.

I received the following helpful snorkeling tips from Sara, the manager of the kids club, which we would have liked to have had when we arrived (!!) (thanks):

1. Call reception every morning and ask when (time) low tide is today. At low tide you can't get over the reef
2. Only snorkel at high tide and be back before low tide starts
3. Best place: At the level of the Laguna Bar, on the reef side.

Important: you have to go through the channel to the lifebuoys by the flags. These mark the outer reef and only there is the visibility clear. Before that it is really bad. Yes, the coral reef is almost grey, but I saw eagle rays, various sharks, Napoleon fish, etc. there every day and I thought it was beautiful.

The food in the restaurant was very tasty. Don't worry about small children: They fulfill all of the little ones' special wishes, such as pasta, chips, nuggets every day at no extra charge. Water with meals costs $3, otherwise it's free from dispensers everywhere in the complex. Very good value for money in June

We were disappointed with this hotel as the pricing of all activities and extras is extremely high. You cannot do anything outside the resort and they take advantage of this factor. We were particularly upset with our check in as they made as pay a fortune for an average year end dinner buffet when we were not feeling well and would rather skip dinner that day. They did not give us the keys to our rooms until we fully paid 250 USD per person for the year end Gala which did not include alcohol drinks. Very disappointing. The resort is very nice and well kept but if you pay for a full board you don’t even get a beer which costs you 10 USD or a latte coffee at breakfast (it should be paid apart).

Dear Txemari7, Greetings from Kuramathi Maldives! Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback about your recent stay at our resort. We truly appreciate your input, as it plays a crucial role in helping us enhance our services and offerings. We’re pleased to hear that you found the resort to be pleasant and well-maintained. We aim to create a positive experience for all guests, and your comments will assist us in achieving this goal. We regret to learn about your disappointment regarding the pricing and additional services. We understand how frustrating it can be to feel pressured by extra costs. However, we do want to clarify that the Gala Dinner supplement charges are communicated through our tour and online partners, as well as on our hotel website. All guests who book during the Christmas and New Year’s Eve period are subject to these supplementary charges. Furthermore, we would like to clarify that key issuance takes place when the rooms are prepared before our standard check-in time of 14:00 hrs. If the rooms are not ready, we are unable to provide keys until the accommodations are available. We regret that we did not meet your expectations. Concerning our meal plan packages, we strive for transparency with our tour partners and on our website regarding the options we offer. If you’d like, we can provide you with information available on our website that details our Dining and All-Inclusive Package options. Thank you once again for your valuable feedback. We look forward to the opportunity to welcome you back in the future and to provide you with a more enjoyable experience. Warm regards, Kuramathi Team

The island itself is a true natural masterpiece, boasting sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters. This is exactly why we chose to return to the same hotel after 10 years.

The hotel offers an exceptional experience, with superb service and a unique ambiance. The buffet is fantastic, offering a wide variety of cuisines every day.

However, there are a few points worth mentioning:
• The breakfast quality doesn’t quite match the excellent standards of lunch and dinner. Additionally, for a five-star hotel, one would expect more coffee options, such as a coffee machine that prepares lattes or mochas.
• Considering the cost of the stay, snorkeling equipment should not incur daily rental fees—insurance fees would be more reasonable.
• The spa services are significantly overpriced.
• Pillow options are quite limited, and the default ones may not suit everyone’s comfort needs.

Despite these minor drawbacks, the overall experience was memorable, and the stunning location truly adds to its charm.

I stayed nine days with my family and friends in Kuramathi Maldives, this hotel has two strong points, the Diving Center with an excellent organization, well-kept equipment and facilities and highlight its human team, we were lucky enough to dive with Ezra and Merle two cracks of the diving world, very qualified people and with gift of languages, Ezra speaks a luxury Spanish!
The second strength of the hotel is the kids club "Bageecha Kids Club" a place of dream for any child, where they do not like detail, pool with slides, activities of all kinds, crafts and even feed them there if they want to stay, headed by Sara a Spaniard who need not say the years she has been there to realize that she has everything under control with a close and exquisite deal with both the children and the parents and with the whole team that form the kids club, made my children take an unforgettable memory of Maldives.
With respect to the hotel quality/price is very good, it is a large island so in principle I should give you more options, but there are certain limitations with the buffets, depending on which area you are one of the three, we brought several bankruptcies because the meal time was very limited from 12:30 to 14:00 so if I caught you at the other end of your buffet you have to run and hopefully catch a cart of those who take you. The food of the buffets is good but with the days it gets repetitive, so if you go a long stay in recommendable restaurants a la carte, we do not step on them because the under 6s have limitations in several, but if we met people who spoke very well in general of all of them.
The treatment of the hotel staff leaves a lot to be desired, there are very valid people but we had very ugly gestures by several workers and to highlight the manager of the restaurant Farilvahu a man with glasses of red pasta, I do not know his name. This very bad worker at 14:29 when the buffet closes at 14:00, approached our table inviting us to get up because they were closing and to go have a drink at the pool bar. I was finishing eating dessert, it's true that we were the last but they have to give room to finish eating without choking. I don't think eating in 30 minutes is excessive.
Something we also did not like anything and especially going with children, is that outside buffet hours and within the all inclusive there is only a small area throughout the hotel where they have something to "pick", for nothing to eat and less for children. If it's paying you have a la carte.
Our room was family run on two floors, looked like it had been renovated towards not much, large and with double shower inside and outside. Fazee the guy who cleaned it for us was always very attentive to us.
The island is very beautiful, it is very well maintained and clean, the sandy tongue has incredible sunsets, although those of the infiniti pool were also spectacular. You can not snorkel on the whole island, it has entry and exit points and only on one side, the other has no reef is lagoon to bathe.

We stayed a week in a beach bungalow: Fabulous island, all cared for in detail. The room is beautiful and the bathroom is superb
All the staff are very kind and friendly.
Our daughter had a lot of fun at the kids club and we could enjoy some diving. The diving is organized very well: the staff takes care of all the equipment and has it found directly in the boat already inspected and assembled.
Special thanks to our dive master Will who was fantastic.
Finally, we were really amazed by the cuisine: for 7 days we always ate different dishes of excellent quality.
The only downside: the aqua center organizes some activities with speedboats and jet skis in the lagoon and come very close to the shore. On one occasion I was really scared because I was snorkeling and I had to reach out and scream to change the course of the speedboat that was coming at me

Here is your revised and more exuberant review with the details you want:

---

Kuramathi – a true paradise!

The journey from Germany is long, but worth every second. As soon as you land on Malé, the guides will warmly welcome you, and your holiday starts right at the airport. The transfer – whether by seaplane or boat – is well organized and ensures first breathtaking impressions.

The accommodation in V5 was the perfect choice! Twice a day cleaning was done, and even if there was sometimes only one cleaning, everything was always spotlessly clean and perfectly maintained. The housekeeping team works with great care, and little things like fresh towels or a loving decoration made the stay even more enjoyable.

The beaches are just fantastic! On the lagoon side, the sea shows its most beautiful side – almost surreal, so breathtaking is the backdrop. You must have seen this with your own eyes! The open sea side is a bit rougher but perfect for snorkeling adventures. Especially near the reef, directly on the jetty, the entry is ideal for beginners who have little experience. Here we could regularly observe blacktip reef sharks, accompanied by a colorful variety of pusher fish, clownfish and parrotfish, which made the underwater experience unforgettable.

The food? Just sensational! The choice was huge, the quality top, and there was always something for everyone – especially the Asian dishes were a highlight. The staff at the restaurants were incredibly friendly and accommodating, which made the stay even more enjoyable.

If you are looking for variety, you will find enough offers to keep yourself busy – from water sports to wellness and exciting excursions. Nevertheless, Kuramathi remains the perfect place to simply relax, unwind and enjoy paradise to the fullest.

Conclusion: Absolute dream holiday – we would come back anytime!

It's just like being in paradise. The resort occupies the entire island, the staff is super attentive, friendly, and always with a smile.
You have plenty of bars at your disposal, and all the cocktails are great.
The food is very good, it has a lot of quality and every day there was something different.
Our room, an overwater Villa with infinity pool and direct access to the sea was a sight. They stop by to clean and fix the room twice a day, and always ask if you need anything.
On the way back, our flight left very early, and we were prepared at 5 a.m. a small breakfast buffet. In addition, they prepare a buggie to take you to the main reception and you can take the speedboat without problem.
You can rent a free snorkeling team.
Highly recommended!!

Kuramathi Island Resort is a sprawling island in the Ari Atoll of the Maldives. The island impresses with its natural beauty, lush greenery and long, white sand beaches.

The house reef of Kuramathi is impressive and offers a rich underwater world with numerous sharks and colorful fish. Getting into the reef can sometimes be a bit difficult, especially in waves.

The breakfast buffet unfortunately only offers filter coffee!! Another point is the lack of labelling of allergens in food, which makes selection difficult for allergy sufferers. On a positive note, however, is the commitment of the chefs, who lead daily through the buffet and even prepare special desserts for guests with allergies.

The pool facilities and bars are fine, although not exceptional - it is a pity that smoking is allowed everywhere here.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. Different sections of the island are allocated to different restaurants, so the individual main restaurants are not crowded.

Kuramathi offers a variety of water sports facilities as well as excursions available at an additional cost. These include dolphin safaris, visits to neighbouring islands and snorkeling trips that enrich the holiday experience.

Rooms at Kuramathi Island Resort are fine overall, although they are already a bit old. Nevertheless, they are well maintained and offer the necessary comfort for a pleasant stay.

One criticism is the limited number of bungalows located directly on the beach. Often there is a walkway between the bungalows and the beach, which limits direct access to the water. Also, the bathing areas in front of the bungalows are not always ideal, which sometimes makes direct bathing from the room impractical.

The island is designed so that one side is more suitable for snorkeling, while the other side is more ideal for swimming and bathing. This offers guests the opportunity to choose the right beach side depending on their preferences.

Kuramathi is a smoking island, which means smoking in public areas such as the pool and bars. This can be annoying for non-smokers, but should be a positive aspect for smokers.

Kuramathi Island Resort is a great choice for travelers looking for a beautiful and well-organized island. However, it is noticeable that savings are being made in some areas. Designed for masses, the resort offers solid, though not outstanding, performance. It is a good option for a relaxing island holiday, especially for first-time visitors to the Maldives. However, experienced Maldives travellers may find that there are better or more individual offers elsewhere.

You have to contact the island by e-mail and request the upgrade. They will give you a price. Better to do it before you go to guarantee it as only 30% of guests are allowed on it at the same time

No prosecco included - you can get cava by the glass, but just in the champagne loft if you have the select all inclusive. The wines included in the select AI you can order in restaurants were surprisingly decent. No wristbands. You can download both the Kuramathi and Dhigali apps and see the menus and wine lists

Hello, we stayed in a thundi water villa in July and there was an iron/ironing board in the room, shower gel/shampoo/conditioner all provided too in the shower and a beach bag. I can’t recall about the mosquito plug-in, but our room attendant sprayed repellant in the room everyday- possibly citronella. However we got bitten a LOT when out and about even with our own repellant on, so take plenty. Have the best time! Thanks
