Beautiful location for a hotel. Right on the lake and easy walk to the main part of town. We self parked a hire car which was easy enough. We didn't make the most of the resort fee facilities but that didn't matter. We ate at the bar ne night and the food was very average. We used the chauffeur service...

Dear Kyzash, Thank you for your comments. We are truly fortunate to be located so close to downtown Madison and the Capitol and of course on the shores of beautiful Lake Mendota. That being said, we are always working to improve and have made note of your suggestions for enhancing the overall experience of our guests. We greatly appreciate you...

Spent the night at the Edgewater while visiting our son at UW. Everything about the stay was perfect! Great location, easy parking, beautiful room and breathtaking view. We were graciously greeted by every staff member we encountered! I highly recommend the Edgewater while in Madison!

Attended a conference at the Edgewater. Extremely difficult to navigate and extremely poorly signed. Parking is expensive, wifi appears to cost $14.95 a day. Views are lovely. If you have problems with mobility, I'd avoid this hotel.

Dear Beth C, Thank you for your review on your stay during conference here at The Edgewater. I apologize for any inconvenience you felt when trying to navigate around the hotel. We do have access to all buildings and areas through our hotel, we have a tunnel that you can use to get down to the pier and Boathouse when...

This is, by far, Madison s finest hotel with excellent food (the best cheese curds anywhere, LOL!), attentive service, superior rooms and beautiful views of Lake Mendota! The only drawback is the long, underground tunnel between the hotel's two towers with rides up and down elevators on each end. :-( Otherwise, a great place to stay!!

Dear CrossgarDown, Thank you so much for your review on your stay at The Edgewater. We love that you enjoyed your stay and that you loved our cheese curds. We apologize the inconvenience of the tunnel between the hotels, we love using them during the freezing months when true Wisconsin winters are in full force. We love but hate that...

This is a beautiful location on Lake Mendota in Madison, WI. We had a clean and wonderfully comfortable room overlooking the lake. We only had time to spend one night but it was well worth it. We enjoyed an evening in the "relaxation pool" followed by drinks and dessert at the bar. It was also special because we watched the...

Dear Steven S, Thank you for your feedback, we love to hear from satisfied guests. From the moment we drove up and saw the beautiful views of the water balanced by a perfect view to the capital, I knew I had made the right decisions. The Edgewater hotel sits next to Lake Mendota's shore. The views are beautiful and peaceful. The Capitol building is also in view and walking distance. The lobby is beautifully adorned in 1940's style and glamour. If you are in Madison, this is a beautiful place to stay.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
As Madison's first and only AAA Four Diamond property, The Edgewater is the proud revival of an historic hotel, right on the shores of Lake Mendota, adjacent to the University of Wisconsin and steps from the state Capitol, in the heart of downtown Madison. The restored property maintains the classic facade of its predecessor, now called The Langdon Building, and a new tower, The Wisconsin Building, all with completely new interiors, several restaurants, a magnificent spa, ballrooms, and a large plaza that connects both hotel guests and the public with the beautiful waters of the lake. The hotel has 202 guest rooms, the majority offering gorgeous lake views, including presidential suites and studios with kitchenettes. The Edgewater Spa provides fitness and personal training overlooking Lake Mendota, as well as full service, customized hair, makeup, nail services and relaxing massage. Restaurant options range from The Statehouse for distinctive dining, to The Boathouse, a bar and restaurant in the great Wisconsin tradition of casual waterfront spots, The Icehouse for very casual dining, and The Cafe, for coffee and lighter fare throughout the day. Meeting and banquet facilities range from The Grand Ballroom and Mendota Ballroom, both in the Wisconsin Building, to The Red Crown Club on top of the Langdon Building, offering versatility and spectacular views of Lake Mendota. The Plaza lies at the heart of The Edgewater between The Langdon Building and the Wisconsin Building, almost an acre, open to the public with regularly scheduled outdoor events, concerts and celebrations, converting in winter to a skating rink. ... more   less
