During spring break we stayed at the Degas House Bed and Breakfast it has been very nice very quaint. Elegant very old but the bathrooms have been updated and the beds have been comfortable and breakfast has been amazing cooked order every morning and just a very nice visit. Very different from what we're used to cuz we are definitely...

We are very happy that you chose Degas House for your visit to New Orleans and that you enjoyed your stay. Staying in a bed and breakfast is very different from a hotel, the main advantage being that you are in a unique home rather than a cookie-cutter hotel. Degas House is a historic home - in fact, one of...

Since we're staying in the day Degas hHouse Bread & Breakfast, we decided to take the museum tour today. I found it very interesting. If you're ever in New Orleans, and have a about 45 minutes it's a great tour.

Enjoyed this tour very much, PARTICULARLY because of Micey (who gave the tour) and her connection to the Degas family. The breakfast was delicious. One thing to know is to ask when the tour actually starts . . . we were told to arrive at 9 a.m. for the breakfast, but the tour didn't start until 10:30. It was pleasant...

Thank you for submitting your review. We are glad that you enjoyed the tour. We wish you would have been told that you could have come later for breakfast, as long as you finished your breakfast before the tour began at 10:30. Please forgive us for not mentioning that. Nevertheless, we hope you will return to stay with us.

We did not spend the night here (but we will next time we are in New Orleans). We really enjoyed brunch in the cozy dining room, followed by a tour. You don't need to be an art expert to appreciate the importance of Edgar Degas. I felt that the tour guide (a descendant of Degas) did a good job of...

Thank you for submitting your positive review of the brunch and the tour. Many people come not knowing much about Edgar Degas and leave with a desire to learn even more about him and his art. We love that you appreciate what the tour offers. We look forward to welcoming you as a guest in our bed and breakfast the...

My family went the day after Thanksgiving for breakfast and we were met with friendly faces asking if we wanted a Bloody Mary or a mojito. We were offered several choices including a variety of omelettes, French toast, sausage, bacon. You can't go wrong, as any choice here is a good choice. We all shared food and enjoyed good coffee....

Thank you for writing your very positive review of the breakfast and tour. We love your statement "Go and do this!". The Edgar Degas House Creole Impressionist Tour is totally unique to all tours in New Orleans and having a delicious breakfast prior to the tour is an added bonus. We hope you will visit us again and stay with...

I'm not rating the B&B experience - Just took the tour. Tour guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic, but in my opinion, this tour left a lot to be desired. You watch an informative (but lengthy) video re: Degas in New Orleans. Then the tour - you look at prints of Degas paintings, sketches, etc - some of which have...

We are sorry that you did not enjoy the tour, and especially sorry that the grounds were not yet cleaned from the previous night's wedding. However, much goes on here and things sometimes fall behind. Nevertheless, realizing that we get many many compliments on the tour, we also know that not everyone likes art and this type of tour, so...

My wife arranged accommodation here, in no small part because she really loved the work of Degas, and I rather enjoy it myself. This was a tricky place to review for several reasons, not the least of which is that the house is, in many lovely respects, a period piece. Let me start by cautioning anyone expecting hi-spec, top-end arrangements...

We are just getting done staying at the inn today and it has been a wonderful experience. We asked to be upgraded to a room that we were told was having an A/C issue. Even though we were okay with the issue, the staff spent well over an hour making sure that portable A/C units were fully set up and...

Thank you for choosing to stay with us at Degas House and for taking the time to write a review. You are so kind to appreciate the length we go to in order to keep our guests happy and comfortable. It is an older historic home and, as you said, this is New Orleans and the heat and humidity can...

Pam was our guide for a very personal tour. We were the only ones this particular afternoon. She shared so much information about Degas' visit to NOLA and the history of his family that lived there. I was particularly fascinated by the research done to find that the house, over the years, had been divided into two buildings. We are...

Very cool place, it is a historic property that has historical connections to the French artist Degas. You have to understand this when you are booking, as it is an old house and therefore obviously is not going to be like modern hotels so you should understand that. There is no A/C for example and the furniture is old and...

Thank you for your review and for choosing to stay at Degas House during Mardi Gras. It is obvious that you appreciate the home and its connection to Edgar Degas. However, we are not sure why you stated that there is no air-conditioning. In South Louisiana, it would be impossible for there to be no air-conditioning in any type of...

Staying in Treme

Neighbourhood Profile
That sound? That flavor? That certain je ne sais quoi that lets you known you’re in “Nawlins” and nowhere else? It’s all good and in broad abundance on the streets of Tremé, where so much of what’s considered to be the very best of New Orleans culture and tradition is, put simply, just how people go about their daily lives in this historic part of town. As one of America’s oldest African-American neighborhoods and among the nation’s first established residential areas for free people of color, Tremé’s significant heritage and contribution cannot be understated. This is especially the case when considering some of Tremé’s most famous residents, most notably jazz great Louis Armstrong. For full flavored food, funky and jazzed up music, and vibrant street life presented with homegrown pride, you can’t beat a visit to Tremé.

“We avoided the garret rooms because of warnings about the AC. Might have been OK at another time of the year, but not in June.”

“The rooms on the 3rd floor were in bad shape The beds are all old. Cock roaches every where even in the freezer & the fridge!!! This place needs just more renovations & for the price that we paid , it was way way too much ! I would not recommend it at all. Being old & historical is right but mean while can be clean & worthy of stay!!”

“Wish there was, but as far as I could tell, there were no "good" rooms. We booked a pricey suite but left before spending a single night!”
  • Main light switch as you enter the room, missing paint and paint cracked
  • More bad paint.
  • This is from inside the bathroom looking out to the second bedroom. The trim was disgusting!
  • Bathroom sink pulling off the wall, mold. Gross.
