I had a great time hanging out at the Degas House. The courtyard is gorgeous and the staff could not have been more accommodating offering us complimentary beverages. The interior of the B&B is beautifully appointed and very clean. I did not have time to...More
We had a fabulous time at Degas House. We were not sure what to expect, but we absolutely loved it. The staff and service were excellent. Sharon and Julia went out of their way to make sure our stay was everything we wanted. Do take...More
I stayed at the Degas House bed and breakfast over memorial day weekend while I was in New Orleans for a friend's wedding. Since I majored in Art History in college, the Degas House caught my eye immediately on the list of recommended accommodations from...More
I took my boyfriend to stay at the Degas House for his birthday. From the start Julia was incredibly helpful and accommodating. I had purchased a Living Social coupon to stay in a Garret room. The room was cozy and comfortable. There are no windows...More

That sound? That flavor? That certain je ne sais quoi that lets you known you’re in “Nawlins” and nowhere else? It’s all good and in broad abundance on the streets of Tremé, where so much of what’s considered to be the very best of New Orleans culture and tradition is, put simply, just how people go about their daily lives in this historic part of town. As one of America’s oldest African-American neighborhoods
and among the nation’s first established residential areas for free people of color, Tremé’s significant heritage and contribution cannot be understated. This is especially the case when considering some of Tremé’s most famous residents, most notably jazz great Louis Armstrong. For full flavored food, funky and jazzed up music, and vibrant street life presented with homegrown pride, you can’t beat a visit to Tremé.

Parking is free around Degas House on the side street, which is where most B&B guests park. Parking for events is also free, and that is in our fenced-in parking lot a block away. If you choose to park there, even as a B&B guest, you can do that, and it will be locked at night. Speak to our innkeepers when you check in.
