The Auld Sweet Olive is a charming B&B in the Marigny neighborhood. It is a beautifully restored residence dating from 1846. The location is withing walking distance of the French Quarter and Frenchmen Street, yet is far enough away that it became our refuge from the bustle and noise of the popular tourist haunts. Our host, Jessica, was a delight...

The best B & B we've stayed in. Anywhere. Ideal location, clean and comfortable. The hospitality was outstanding - Jessica made our stay superb. Friendly and helpful. Excellent suggestions on what to do and where to go. Would we return? In a heartbeat.

This lovely lodging in the Marigny - a neighborhood right next to the French Quarter and chock full of great restaurants and colorful old homes - is a perfect location from which to explore NOLA. It is immaculate and beautiful - from the hand painted walls to the fountained courtyard - and is within walking distance to most everything, and...

We have been visiting NOLA about annually for 25 years and Auld Sweet Olive is the best yet. Tasteful. Charming. Authentic. Meticulously maintained. The neighborhood is quiet, yet a few steps away from a great market serving multiple dining tastes at prices well below New Orleans norms. Frenchman Street music venues and restaurants are only a few blocks distant and...

The location is in a quiet spot but within walking distance to a great food market. And super close to the Frenchman Street where all the music/art is. Jessica, our host, had amazing recommendations on activities to do. AND her breakfasts were outstanding -- no joke. As vegetarians, we were very well-taken care of! The house itself is beautiful, with...

A beautifully restored, tastefully decorated, and clean B&B located in a quiet neighbourhood within walking distance to the French Quarter (if you prefer, you can hop on the streetcar just a few blocks away). Congenial and caring innkeeper, Jessica, provides a healthy and varied breakfast (think organic eggs, spinach quiche, warm muffins, fresh fruits, awesome bread pudding, etc). She also...

I almost don't want to write this review as I don't want any more people to find out about this place! lol We have stayed in many B&B's, in many cities and this is now one of our favorites! The house itself is just lovely. We loved the decor, not stuffy, kinda funky NOLA style and very comfortable. Excellent location...

This was mine and my boyfriends first time in New Orleans and it was fantastic! The Auld Sweet Olive B&B was a great choice of accommodation. It's in a wonderful neighbourhood with some really lovely bars and restaurants close by. Our favourite was the Franklin, but I'd highly recommend booking as it gets busy! The B&B is in a perfect...

We had a very positive experience in this B and B. We appreciated that it was not right in the French Quarter. The Marigny is a charming neighborhood to wander through. Great coffee shops and places to get a drink nearby.

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighbourhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.
