Stayed here Sept. 23-25 and really enjoyed it. It is a somewhat long walk to the French Quarter but is only a couple of blocks from Frenchman St. The pool and courtyard area are very inviting on those hot New Orleans afternoons. Staff and owner were very accommodating and helpful with any questions or issues. Would definitely recommend you staying... More

Stayed there twice, both rooms were nice. Enjoy the wine and cheese happy hour and meeting the other guest. Great location, service is above and beyond. Fun neighborhood, easy to walk to good restaurants and other attractions. Safe area by New Orleans standards.

It's a smallish place, comprising a couple of buildings, plus a pool (that we didn't use, but it looked nice). Very comfortable, very welcoming. Great rooms. Ours had a bathroom across the hall where there were two other rooms, but we weren't sharing it with them and it was fine. We got the feeling it's a place that hosts regulars... More

Loved staying with Ed. The room was smallish, but very nicely furnished and spotlessly clean. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have slept in. About 10 blocks from the French Quarter, it was quiet and very pleasant. Nice self serve breakfast set up, in the main house. Beautifully landscaped backyard with crystal clean pool and hot tub.... This place was very relaxing and offered nice rooms with a nice breakfast in the morning and a great host. The host was very helpful and so were the staff and it made for a very nice stay on New Orleans. The pool was nice and in a great spot out the back. It felt like you were at a... More

I arrived during 4th of July weekend and the Essence Festival. It was the cheapest (still $165 a night) and closest spot to the French Quarter that I could find. It was a pleasant surprise. I was greeted at my car and helped with my bags. I was given an upgraded room in the guest house with better access to... More

When we first walked up to the Lions Inn, we encountered two women who had just checked out. "Have you seen the garden yet?" they asked. "It's paradise." We rang the bell. Ed, the charming, low-key owner, showed us to our room, right off the garden with its lush foliage, palm trees, koi pond, hot tub, and a lovely swimming... More

This is the third time I have stayed at Lions Inn. Ed and the staff always make me feel welcomed. Ed and staff do a great job of keeping the place clean and inviting. The breakfast in the morning is always ample. The pool area is like a tranquil tropical oasis after a busy day of touring around the magical... More

I cannot say enough good things about the Lions Inn. First of all, the website photos do not do it justice. From the quaint rooms, to the beautiful pool, I can’t express how lovely the whole place is. The innkeeper, Ed, has got to be one of the kindest men I’ve ever met. In dealing with his replacement (whose name... More

Love this place. They used to only book by word of mouth. I'm not saying much...I want to keep it secret. It is intimate and quiet...you won't feel comfortable with kids and frankly you may offend people. It is relaxed with a very local feel. There is the BEST breakfast at the bakery nearby. Get the boudin and eggs. They... More

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighbourhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.
