I can't say enough good things about this place! We booked the room a little later than we probably should have, so the Peacock Room was all that was available for the days my boyfriend and I were going to be in New Orleans, but when we got there, we were beyond impressed with the accommodations. The room was clean...

Second stay at Royal Barracks Guest House and this time we enjoyed the suite. Kelly and Sugar B. greeted us with a glass of wine and showed us to our room. The real charm of staying here is once your settled in you feel like one of the neighborhood locals, coming and going as you please with all the bars...

This little guest house was the best place for my husband and I to stay on our first trip to New Orleans. Kelly is the manager along with her lovely little dog Sugar. She makes you feel like you are actually staying at her home. She is one of those special people that as soon as you meet her, you...

How awesome is it to say you stayed in a guest house with bunk beds. This RBGH is in walking distance to French quarter and bourbon. The quarters are small and the pooper is a bit open but overall a neat little place. Problem which is why rating goes down is that when I came back Saturday afternoon, I could...

We knew we were at home when Sugah B, the resident spunky poodle showed us to our room. This place certainly made our first trip to NOLA a memorable one! We stayed in the Peacock Room, which was beautifully decorated! I love that the place has no keys, just codes. It's so nice not worrying about where your key is!...

Kelly is amazing, made us feel right at home!! The location is perfect!! Right between Frenchmen and Bourbon street. I will never stay anyplace else in New Orleans! It's not a resort but it has everything you will need for a trip to New Orleans. I really love this place! Feels like NOLA should feel. A few small grocery stores...

We picked this after reading the great reviews on this site about the location (French Quarter) and the host, Kelly,....Wow, we did good! The house is not a hotel, it's a guest house so those looking for 5* hotel with a 24hr concierge desk etc look away BUT if you want a piece of last century history for your accommodation,...

My husband arranged these accommodations as a surprise for my birthday and boy what a surprise it was. He thought he had reserved a bed & breakfast which it is not. The room was very small, the mattress was about 4 inches thick, the bedspread needed washing had a stale body odor smell, the dresser was old and the drawers...

My partner and I visited NOLA a bunch of time pre-katrina, and always stayed at the Royal Barracks. First off, our original flight got cancelled and we were delayed by 3 days and had to re-arrange our time in the French Quarter. We spoke to Kelly on the phone and she was amazingly nice and helpful. We finally met her...

My husband and I stayed in the Gothic Room which is a very dark room. I found a used water bottle next to the desk from the previous occupant which obviously cued me in to look a bit harder. The room would be NOLA charming but it is in desperate need of a good deep cleaning.

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
