I stayed at the Prytania Oaks Hotel for one night. I was originally quoted $119 plus tax over the phone for the Prytania Oaks but I was told it was $139 when I arrived and indeed the fine print confirmation didn't confirm that I would stay at the Prytania Oaks. The price of $119 was only for the Prytania Park... More

We booked this as part of a road trip and needed somewhere reasonably priced with parking. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the room for the price we paid. It was clean and large with high ceilings and a gorgeous bathroom complete with fireplace. Excellent wifi and a comfortable bed. This felt like a safe area and just... More

This hotel is wonderfully located in the Garden District in easy reach of the St Charles Streetcar. There are also a few bars and coffeeshops in easy walking distance and parking is provided. It is a restored house, beautifully decorated and retaining original features. Our room was delightfully characterful and it was so peaceful. It's part of a collection of... More

We had a room in the Prytania Oaks Hotel, but we had to checkin at the Pry Park Hotel. It is not fare away, maybe around the corner. But late in the nite, there was a policeman monitoring the street - is that necessary in this neighborhood ? Anyway, the room was very silent, the ac was great, the room... More

Dear Guest, Thank you so kindly for writing such a detailed review. I am going to look into the check out related issue of your review to re train the staff on proper handling of paperwork. I am sorry this happened. As to your question of the police officer on the corner. As with every hotel in New Orleans, we... More

My husband and I had a room and so did my parents. Our rooms were well furnished and comfortable. We had a king bed and large bathroom. The location was close to many places to eat. We walked to the Trolley Station for breakfast twice and also ate at The Blind Pelican. We could have walked to Emeril's Delmonico but... More

If you think of New Orleans as more than Bourbon Street and as a city where people work to preserve their historic buildings while embracing modern style, you will enjoy staying here. Prytania Oaks is the opposite of chain hotels that offer identical rooms and crowded lobbies. My wife and I stayed three nights on a vacation with two other... More

Prytania Oaks is on the beginning of the garden district on the edge of the arts warehouse district. On the outside it looks as if it needs some TLC , the rooms however were very comfortable and serviced daily. The sister hotel the Queen Ann across the road looked nicer from the outside. The area is safe just a block... More

Realized when we got to the hotel we had booked an extra day. We arrived Thursday night and our reservation was booked until Monday. I asked if we could change it to leaving on Sunday night but management was firm on policy, you need to give advanced 48 hours to any changes in your reservation. Monday was five days away,... More

We booked the room for jazzfest. Looked appropriately like New Orleans from the outside but very clean and full character on the inside. Great for a weekend getaway. Would definitely recommend and will come again for a future visit.

We really enjoyed staying here on our last trip. We've stayed on Bourbon Street before which is great if you want that "crazy" atmosphere. We really enjoyed the property. Lots of charm. It was a big old house that had been renovated into many units. The King bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was very modern. They offered a... More

Staying in Garden District

Neighbourhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
