If you think of New Orleans as more than Bourbon Street and as a city where people work to preserve their historic buildings while embracing modern style, you will enjoy staying here. Prytania Oaks is the opposite of chain hotels that offer identical rooms and crowded lobbies. My wife and I stayed three nights on a vacation with two other...

Prytania Oaks is on the beginning of the garden district on the edge of the arts warehouse district. On the outside it looks as if it needs some TLC , the rooms however were very comfortable and serviced daily. The sister hotel the Queen Ann across the road looked nicer from the outside. The area is safe just a block...

Realized when we got to the hotel we had booked an extra day. We arrived Thursday night and our reservation was booked until Monday. I asked if we could change it to leaving on Sunday night but management was firm on policy, you need to give advanced 48 hours to any changes in your reservation. Monday was five days away,...

We booked the room for jazzfest. Looked appropriately like New Orleans from the outside but very clean and full character on the inside. Great for a weekend getaway. Would definitely recommend and will come again for a future visit.

We really enjoyed staying here on our last trip. We've stayed on Bourbon Street before which is great if you want that "crazy" atmosphere. We really enjoyed the property. Lots of charm. It was a big old house that had been renovated into many units. The King bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was very modern. They offered a...

The people are very friendly. The rooms look nice and very antiquated. There is a terrible smell of mildew and the windows are so old they can't be opened. I shut the air conditioning off in the room. I hope that will help as my husband and I are both allergic to mold and I am asthmatic. I would have...

Dear Valerie, I want to thank you for taking a moment out to write this review and bringing this problem to my attention. I want to apologize for whatever aroma you have picked up, but I can assure you it is not mildew or mold. With our humidity levels increasing with the start of spring, sometimes it will throw off...

This and the other Patania hotels by the same company are conveniently located in the Garden District near the St. Charles streetcar line that you can ride down to the French quarter or uptown. The neighborhood is a little funky and has the feel of the real New Orleans. Has free parking. They are furnished very nicely. Breakfast lunch and...

My wife and I stayed 4 nights at the hotel. It is perfectly located in the Lower Garden District. It was quaint gem with nice private balcony. I hate to even review because more people will find out about this place and the rates will probably go up because of it. But I have to give the hotel it's due....

My husband and I stayed 3 nights at this quaint hotel before a recent cruise. We left our car on premises during the cruise and took a short taxi ride to the cruise terminal. The hotel staff was friendly and pleasant at check in and check out. Our "Oaks King" first floor room was nice and clean, although if you...

Toward the east end of the Garden District, a short block from St. Charles. It's within easy distance of most of what you want to see in New Orleans. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and well-appointed. I couldn't have asked for anything better. One other thing -- I left a shirt there. Before nightfall I got an email from management...

Staying in Garden District

Neighbourhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
