Another great stay at Banana Courtyard, the only down side was our dear friends Mary and Hugh were on vacation, which they needed for all the hard work they do daily. Mr. Richard took good care of us in their absence, and we have come to call him our dear friend. All the other staff were great and really show...

Dear marjoe1, Thank you so much for your kind words! They are especially invaluable, as they come from some of our long-time friends and guests. As you said, our B and B is not just made up of bricks and mortar--even though they are from the 1800s and have quite a history! We are made up of people: owners like...

We've stayed at the Banana Courtyard twice and just love it there! For our 2nd trip to NOLA I had a "cheaper" airbnb place lined up to stay at until 2 weeks before our trip when I decided that it wouldn't be the same if we didn't stay at the Banana Courtyard again! So, I contacted Mary and the other...

Dear Kelly G., Return guests, like you, are our pride and joy! We understand how many folks use airbnb as they travel--and are satisfied with the experience. But, we want to go beyond satisfaction to WONDERFUL. The only way to do that is to give you the on-site hospitality and personal attention that you get from staff like Richard and...

My mother and I recently spent 5 nights in this bed and breakfast in the "Cajun quarter" room. Overall, our experience was fine. Pros: 1.Great location. 2. The room itself was fine, and the price was great for the area. 3. The woman who checked is in was friendly and helpful. 4. The housekeeping staff were great. 5. The building...

Dear mml5061, Thanks for sharing that you found us an economical choice to stay in New Orleans when guests come to explore this great city or return for a repeat visit. We also appreciate that you drew attention to the fact that some, but not all, guests go up a flight of steps to reach various rooms. As we are...

Mary and Hugh are excellent hosts for first-time visitors to the French Quarter area. However, because they are so hospitable, they also earn lots of repeat patrons, many of whom book months in advance. Additional staff are courteous and friendly. Everyone's goal is to make your visit comfortable and memorable, which they easily achieve. Banana Courtyard is welcoming in decor...

We had a great time during our stay at the Banana Courtyard B & B and the City of New Orleans! Mary and all of the Staff there did a great job with suggestions and recommendations for what to do, and when to do them. The breakfast was perfect every morning, and the uniqueness of the decoration of the place...

Dear nick_edelman, We loved getting your review for two reasons: a) We love it when folks enjoy New Orleans as much as we do and b) We love great guests like you who will be returning to see us. The food, the music and the beads are waiting for you on your next visit. Let the good times roll!

My wife and I visited for a quiet weekend away and were wowed start to finish! Hugh and Mary are incredibly knowledgeable and eager to share all their knowledge of the city. Easy walking distance to anything you could want to see but far enough away when you're ready to take a break from the hustle and bustle. Wish we...

Wowee-zowee. Thanks for wonderful review. Return guests are our lifeblood - after 23 years in biz, with y'all referring friends, colleagues and friends to us, and giving us such praise online. Now know we need to limit time off, because we are missing all these lovely reviews. Just attended funeral of loved one this weekend and immediately returned to B&B....

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighbourhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.
