Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house is uniquely decorated & comfortable. We were made to feel welcome immediately. Kevin & Wendy were very gracious & happy to give us advice about where to go for sightseeing or meals.Having a dog to pet was a bonus. Algeirs is a quiet & unigue neighbourhood. Would not hesitate to book for our next...

We stayed at THOTRS B&B for 4 Nights during our first trip to New Orleans as part of our 3 week road trip around the southern states of USA and couldn't have a picked a better place to stay! Just a short ferry journey away from the hustle and bustle of the French quarter, with a great English pub down...

house of the rising sun is top-notch; i can't think of anything to add to other comments, except that darling Boudin the dog was sweet and well-mannered and made me miss our dearly departed dog Mollie. one thing nobody has mentioned is the fabulous ceiling of the back porch - it's all part of the wonderful interior design, and makes...

We stayed three nights and we loved the location and the historic double shot-gun home. We enjoyed the fresh fruit-yogurt-cereal breakfast with orange juice and coffee every morning. Loved drinking a beer on the back porch. The bed was so comfortable I slept through the night for the first time in 3 weeks! The hosts were gracious and helpful. Two...

Our room was beautiful and comfortable, with gorgeous colors. The attached bathroom really made it convenient, and the house was set up well as to not disturb others when we came in. The breakfast was light and healthy, a nice change from all the other junk we ate. A couple of blocks from the ferry, it was a quick walk...

I received very late notice that I would have to travel to the New Orleans area for business immediately before Mardi Gras weekend, 2017. Good luck finding a decent, affordable option, right? Fortunately, a friend who used to live on Algiers Point told me to check out the House of the Rising Sun B & B. This was a stroke...

We just left the comfort of The House of the Rising Sun yesterday morning. We were seen off by Kevin, Wendy and Boudin with a warm farewell and lots of advice for the next leg of our journey. We really enjoyed our stay with them - from a beer on the back deck upon arrival, to lovely healthy breakfasts with...

This was a remarkable find. My wife and I stumbled across this B&B while looking for an affordable place with easy access into NO. As far as B&Bs go, this was very clean, unobtrusive and perfectly located. The owners were pleasant and helpful and offered a wealth of insight while also allowing your space and peace. The location was ideal...

We spent 4 nights here enjoying the cozy peacefulness of this B&B. Located in Algiers Point, the neighborhood is quiet and just a short 2-5 minute ferry ride to the NOLA Riverwalk area. Our room was spacious (gotta love a big old 1890's house) and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and healthy, and the coffee was was...

Staying in Algiers

Neighbourhood Profile
Algiers
Sitting pretty across the Mississippi River from the rambunctious French Quarter, the Crescent City’s second oldest neighborhood is as historic and as scenic as any – just a lot less showy about it. With its numerous 19th and early 20th century homes and plentiful parks and riverside green space for cycling and walking, subdued and low key Algiers yields the best views of New Orleans and offers a quiet haven from the hustle and bustle in other parts of town. Most of the area’s activity, for visitors anyway, takes place at Algiers Point where the famous Canal Street / Algiers Ferry has been the main attraction since 1827 and is still giving folks one of the best rides in town at very affordable rates. Restaurants, bars and music venues here all but guarantee the utmost of authentic experiences sans any hype or high prices.
