My husband and I spent 5 nights at the Royal Courtyard while visiting the New Orleans area. We've stayed in many B & Bs in the US, Canada, and parts of Europe over past years and this one rates as one of the best. The hosts Philip and David make you feel right at home and give lots of great... More

This was our first visit to New Orleans and I'm so happy that, when planning our trip, we came across this gem of a hotel/B&B. Phillip and David are simply wonderful hosts. They are very warm and welcoming, as well as extremely helpful. Phillip even gave us his cell number so that we could call him if we ever got... More

Our experience at Royal Street Courtyard could not have been more perfect. Our hosts Phillip and David were extremely welcoming and gracious, and provided thoughtful and spot-on recommendations for dining and special attractions. It felt as if we were staying with friends we've known for years - and now we are pleased to say we truly are. Highly recommend putting... More

This was our second stay at Royal Street Courtyard. We enjoyed it just as much as the first time. Phillip and David are great hosts. Very friendly and informative. The rooms are great as are the beds and believe it or not, the sheets!!! Great location with free on street parking. We were able to keep the car in front... More

Just felt at home in this beautiful house, David and Philipp are such nice and interesting persons happy to share with us their New Orleans. The location is just perfect: so peaceful and yet so close to everything. We already dream of our next stay.

Phillip and David are as lovely as ever, and the property remains as charming and comfortable as ever. The first day we were there, we got caught in a torrential rainstorm, and Phillip collected our clothes and dried them for us. "You don't have to do that!" we protested, and he replied, "It's no problem, it's the third load of... More

Hands down the best customer care I've received. The service began before I ever left home, with a text message from Phillip asking when our plane landed so he could be ready to receive us. When we arrived he said he had an "orientation." What we really received was a map, countless recommendations for food and entertainment. I expected him... More

Having stayed mainly in the French Quarter or the Garden District for all our many years of visiting the Crescent City, our first time in the Marigny District was made magical by a last-minute booking at the Royal Street Courtyard B & B. While there is nothing wonderfully original we could add to the previous informative and glowing reviews, the... More

This was our second time staying at the Royal Street Courtyard & it reminded us of why we wanted to come back. Phillip is the absolute most gracious host and a wealth of information. We really enjoy the Marigny neighborhood as it is just that - a neighborhood - with a host of great little restaurants and bars. Take time... More

The Royal Street is a wonderfully restored c.1850 "Plantation Town House" situated in the heart of the Marigny district. It, just like the Marigny that surrounds it, is Shabby & Chic at the same time, elegant & laid back at the same time, exciting and relaxing at the same time. It is an excellent experience for visiting the Marigny. But... More

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighbourhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.
