Stayed at the Melrose Mansion for Christmas. The location was perfect for us! It is in a quiet residential neighborhood. Walking distance (about 8-10 minutes) to the French Quarter and Frenchman's Street, but far enough away from that you aren't affected by the craziness of Bourbon Street. We stayed, not in the mansion itself, but in a house a couple...

Loved our stay at the Melrose Mansion for a friends wedding. The staff is incredibly hospitable and the location is perfect at the edge of French Quarter. Nice rooms with beautiful historic details. Comfortable outdoor area with seating. Perfect location for an intimate wedding.

I loved my stay here. I spent 4 nights in Napoleon #2. My room was spacious and very authentic of the old mansion style. However, not old at all, the bed and pillows were like heaven after a long day in a the French quarter. The shower was fabulous w it's "rain faucet " and perfect pressure. The staff was...

Excellent place to stay for a few days to explore NO. Close to the French Quarter, but in a quieter neighborhood. Elegant renovation of an old building. Lovely pool in a courtyard. Even in December, it was a wonderful place to relax. Very comfortable, large rooms. Staff is pleasant and helpful. Only negative is an extreeeemly poor breakfast. They really...

We stayed here for 3 nights while travelling from the UK. The hotel is in quite a quiet area. Within easy reach of Bourbon St. The staff were very helpful and polite. Our room was nice, perfect for what we needed. Wine and cheese/biscuits on a evening was a lovely touch. Thank you for a lovely stay

A welcome glass of wine was a wonderful treat! In the late afternoon they offer complimentary wine and cheese. The was a very spacious separate living room, a large bathroom and a balcony. The bed and pillows are nice and comfy. The mansion is beautiful and well maintained with 14 foot ceilings, stained glass windows, a pool and even a...

Our room was located in the back of this charming home. We had our own entrance complete with gas lanterns to light the night. Our very own pouch had wicker furniture to sit outside and enjoy the New Orleans atmosphere. The hotel was close to Frenchman Street which is exactly what we were looking for.

I stayed in one of the executive residential suites. The experience was good, but not great. The details were just not up to par. For example, there was no traditional hotel book with information/amenities, etc., which surprised the staff when we called to ask for internet login instructions, but they still didn't provide a book to us. The breakfast was...

Everything was 1st class from the curb side service, helping us with information, check in/out process, housekeeping, friendliness etc. My husband and I will definitely stay here again. Our room was Miss Kitty which looked newly renovated and had a balcony. We enjoyed the wine/cheese our. That was a nice special touch.

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighbourhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.

“If you are booking an executive suite, I'd skip #4A. It's on the top floor, so the view is nice, but it's not as large as I expected. It's the one with the exposed wooden beams in the photos, and the slanted roof in the bathroom. If you don't see beams or the slanted bathroom ceiling, then you're looking at pictures of another room. They are always visible. Also, the living room/bedroom share an open ceiling, which was a little awkward for privacy purposes.”

“Our room was Miss Kitty which looked newly renovated and had a balcony. My husband has a lot of back aches and this bed was wonderful for him! We loved the comfort of the bed. There is not a full length mirror so I did take the big one down from the wall to use as a full length mirror which worked out just fine.”
