This is the second time I have stayed at the Lafayette in about 9 months. The first time around we had a wonderful room - and relatively few and very minor complaints. This time I was actually sad to see that what could potentially be an AWESOME hotel was drawing up short! My suggestions to the Hotel are as follows:... More

The hotel, room, and bathroom are accessible and a block and a half from the federal courthouse. If you use a chair you will need the staff to move the bed over away from the wall and ask for a shower chair for the bath tub. Other than that, the room is ready to use and the hotel has great,... Love that it's quiet on the street. Hotel has nice charm. Excellent restaurants around it. There is a steak house in the hotel. A private party was going on. I couldn't dine there. Large rooms. Fantastic tub! Comfee I enjoyed the decor of the entire hotel.

While my wife and I were in New Orleans to attend the graduation of our daughter from Tulane, we stayed at the Lafayette Hotel on St. Charles street. It is an older, smaller hotel, but overall we found it a nice place to stay. It is conveniently located just a few blocks to Canal St. and the French Quarter and... More

Friendly front desk staff welcomed us there, showed us what was close and set us lose upon a great city. The location is great. Just outside the french quarter, quiet and on the street car line. The hotel doesn't have the inflated prices one finds just a few blocks away.

The manager Lenny refused to give us a credit for our 4 night stay . My mother in law had a heart attack right before we were to leave for New Orleans. We sent documentation from the hospital. We are very disappointed to lose that amount of money. Will not ever stay there and will tell all of our friends.... More

I can't believe the great low price I got for this place. My room was so nice and spacious and the bathroom was perfect. Now to the negative parts, the parking is expensive and some construction is going on in the street next to the hotel. The street noise didn't bother us and there is a parking lot a block... More

My grandmother and I stayed at the Lafayette Hotel at the end of March 2014 while we were in town for an academic conference. The rooms were very nice and spacious and located in a historic building. Additionally, the hotel is located in a nice, safe area of town that is close to the French Quarter but not too close... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
