I would highly recommend the Royal Sonesta on Bourbon street. We had a room with a balcony on the side street (Across from Jacks, Vin Bar and kitty corner from Old Absinthe Bar). Was the room loud, yes a times it got a bit noisy, but it wasn’t really anything to complain about. Aside from that they provide ear plugs...

What a wonderful hotel with an awesome staff from Tony to Brittany and Anthea they treated us like we were the only guests. What a treat. This was a last minute detour and traveling with a dog is never easy. They made it effortless. Thank you

We stayed in a Club level room Royal Sonesta over an extended New Year's Eve weekend. The French Quarter location offers convenient access to many of the great New Orleans restaurants and attractions. We had a very late check in, but was glad I contacted the hotel in advance so our room reservation was held for our arrival. Guests arriving...

Number one, check in. My wife and I arrived in the parking garage around 9pm. There were no fewer than two attendants. We had a four day work function previous to our stay so we had a lot of luggage. Attendants looked at us but never once offered help, greeted us or offered a luggage cart. We wrestled out six...

I have stayed at this hotel multiple times within the past 3 years on business. Almost every time there is an issue with the reservation and check in process. It usually take about 20-30 minutes to check in. The hotel is obviously in a great location and staff is average. Rooms are usually clean, but my last stay felt a...

We chose to stay at RS as first-time New Orleans visitors for a long weekend celebrating our 25th anniversary. The weather was bad (first heavy rain and then unusually cold with wind) which gave us more at-the-hotel time than we had planned or expected. We had a very nice time, staff could not have been more solicitous and the property...

Had a very nice stay. Hotel was still decorated for Christmas when we arrived. Beautiful. This hotel is in a great location. Right on Bourbon Street. Easy walk to French Market and other areas. Weather was beautiful, temps in the 70's, really enjoy this city and the Sonesta. Have been here numerous times. The food in New Orleans is fabulous, my favorite city in the whole, wide world. The Cajun/Creole types of food are right here. Please don't miss the barbecued shrim at Pascal's Manale"s in the garden district, you will love it.

The Sonesta is perfectly located in the French Quarter and is particularly attractive at Christmas time. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the rooms are comfortable and spacious. However, the wifi internet is appalling. We even changed rooms and were given a complimentary speed-boost, but the wifi remained poor and internet connectivity intermittent

What a terrible disappointment the newly renovated Royal Sonesta Hotel was. The rooms are dark and ugly. No color no charm. Beds were awful. Walking out onto Bourbon Street is comparable to entering a zoo. Crowds of people, mostly rude, and in bad weather (which was unfortunately what we had-constant rain) it is impossible. The lobby sitting area was unappealing...

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
