Royal Sonesta Hotel is one of the more expensive hotels in the French Quarter. I personally believe it's expensive for only one reason and that is its location which is right on Bourbon Street and right in the center of all the action that is Bourbon Street. The problem is that location in my opinion doesn't justify staying at the...

We had a great stay at the Royal Sonesta. Everyone at the hotel was friendly and happy to be of service. We arrived at 1:00 am and treated as well as if it were 1:00 in the afternoon. Jay at the front door was wonderful and was able to answer all of our questions. I would recommend this hotel to...

First off, I booked the hotel through Hotwire, so it was a really good rate (or at least I was really happy with it). From the details in the associated reviews, I could pretty much guess which one it was. Yes, renovations are ongoing, but only run 9 am to 6 pm. And the renovated rooms, while small, are very...

I tagged along with my husband while he had a work conference in this hotel. When our taxi dropped us off, we were in awe of the lights and people on Bourbon Street. We were there for 3 nights and spent every night walking up and down Bourbon, people watching with drinks in hand. When we would stroll in late...

While normally a great place, this stay has been a nightmare. The hotel is in the process of renovation, and severe noise echoes throughout about a quarter of the building. We are awaken at about 8am by what sounds like a jackhammer coming through the ceiling. It persists throughout the entire day. I can't fault the hotel forever, but I...

This was our second trip to NOLA so knew what to expect. The hotel is located right on Bourbon St which is old, loud, dirty and so much fun!! The hotel is lovely, better then I expected. They are in the process of updating rooms and the construction is loud. I asked to be placed in a room that was...

This is a great choice for the French quarter. If you choose a room overlooking Bourbon Street, expect lots of noise until about 2 AM. If you don't want to be part of the excitement, ask for a room on the pool side. They charge for using the business center, except for airline reservations and check in.

Our family stayed at the Royal Sonesta while attending a conference at the hotel. Every interaction with the staff was wonderful. They were all friendly and helpful. Our room was very quiet and overlooked a private patio, but was a bit of a walk from the nearest elevator. I was disappointed with the beds, the mattresses were very hard and...

You can't beat the location, right in the French Quarter but somehow not noisy. The entry, reservation area and courtyard are beautiful. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The rooms are nice and clean.

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
