Stayed here one night pre-cruise and it was a great location. Easy walk to Mardi Gras parade,restaurants/bars, and the river front. View of alley. Room was loud - outside sirens and could hear people talking in hall. Bed was comfortable. Room needs a good cleaning as there was much old dirt and dust embedded in light switches and edges in...

I booked this hotel because I am a choice privileges platinum member and I saw that it was close to the French quarter. I was surprised at how quaint and small the hotel was but it felt comfortable and homey in a sense. The wonderful woman at the front desk asked me what we were in the mood for food...

The St James Hotel is just two short blocks from Canal Street and the French quarter. Staff was cordial, helpful and accommodating. Room was beautifully decorated, beds very comfy and everything was clean as can be. Complimentary room service breakfast was delicious and arrived at exactly the time we requested. Valet parking was stress-free for us - at $39/day seemed...

Love the location and the staff was excellent. The only problem is the furniture needs to be updated and the sofa bed was awful to sit on. Really did not have to walk too far and the trolley was not too far from the hotel. Just make sure you have good walking shoes. Food is on the high side but...

We needed a place to stay before leaving on a cruise, during Mardis Gras, in the middle of college All Star basketball games. The hotel was very reasonably priced, considering the season, and perfectly located. We were able to walk to Bourbon Street, where we found a great little restaurant recommended by the hotel staff. The Green Trolley Line was...

I had my doubts about this hotel after reading some of the online reviews and I was pleasantly surprised by my stay here. I found this hotel to be very clean, very tidy from the moment I walked in. The staff were very friendly, and very helpful, the staff at the front desk were very helpful. My hotel room was...

This hotel was a breath of fresh air. Wonderful room with a private patio. Continental Breakfast delivered to your room in the morning. The Staff was friendly and professional. Wifi worked great. Hotel was withing walking distance to some amazing restaurants. I just wish I could have stayed longer. I will go back to this hotel.

The hotel was nice and in a good location. Walking distance to French Quarter. Staff was friendly, room lovely and clean with mini-fridge. Bathroom could have been cleaner. Looked like 3 year old did caulking. Non-existent water pressure. Shower wouldn't stay on. There were times no hot water. Complained, nothing done.

Overall our stay was a pleasant experience. The room service breakfast was a nice touch. Convient to the French Quarters. Only drawback was the lack of warm water. Staff was informative and friendly. Adele, who check us in was most helpful . Room was clean and comfortable.

Where to begin??? Well, start with getting to curbside and then parking, an interesting experience anywhere in NOLA… there is no clear place to stop and unload whether you are in some commercialized vehicle or your own. Coming in like we did at 6:30 pm on a Sunday, there was no assistance with luggage, nor even a cart to load...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
