Perfect place to stay if you want to explore Custer State Park and the surrounding areas in the Black Hills. I booked in advance, but realized I'd need a late check in (10PM) after spending the afternoon in the Badlands. Was able to get someone on the phone who knew about my reservation, and said they'd be there til 11pm,...

If you can afford the tour, then this is the best way to see the wildlife in Custer State Park. It's pricey, $116.00 for two adults and the tour lasts two hours. By taking the tour, you also get the benefit of narration and information by the driver. If you can't afford it, there is a self drive nature loop,that...

We stayed in Creekside Lodge the first few nights. While the rooms are very standard and average, they are fine. Just not many amenities and the slippery bedspread slides off of your bed during the night. Then, we moved to the Coolidge Room where Coolidge stayed in the summer of 1927. What a mistake! This room is mentioned in "1,000...

Rooms are just average - but with a nice porch where we had our pre-dinner glass of wine and appetizers. Attentive staff. And loved the dining room - so there was no need to drive once we parked our car.

If you're enjoying the Black Hills, this is the place to top off your experience. The setting in Custer State Park is outstanding and the area is centrally located in the Black Hills, so everything is easy to get to from here. Offers some of the best sites in the region. The Lodge is well maintained, but the difference is...

If you can get a reservation at the Custer State Lodge on your trip to the Black Hills, take it. The rooms are pretty basic but the restaurant is fantastic. We had Elk Osso Buco and Buffalo ravioli. Both were fantastic. Plus an unusually good gift shop.

While visiting Mt. Rushmore, we stayed at the State Game Lodge, Creekside. The room was exceptionally clean, very new. The room had a separation of living and sleeping area and included a microwave and mini-fridge. Staff, especially Jason, were fantastic.

Born in Faulkton, SD. Live in Texas. We love Custer state Park., We have watched the Hills evolve from a quiet unknown to a destination for thousands. The park however is still quiet and beautiful. Black forest to open prairie. Site seeing from Lead and Deadwood to Mt. Rushmore. Driving and experiencing Needles Highway a must. Climb Harney peak and...
