We decided to stay at one of the lodges while visiting Mount Rushmore and found The State Game Lodge perfect....quiet, welcoming and beautiful. The hotel and restaurant staff were absolutely wonderful and happy to satisfy any of our requests. The manager even took us on a little impromptu tour of the historical upstairs rooms. We stayed in the motel rooms...

We stayed 1 night in cabin #26. Very nice accommodations - 4 of us were comfortable. It was clean, quiet and the views were nice - could walk to the General Store in the morning for coffee and breakfast items. We also are dinner at the lodge - had a nice relaxing meal in the dining room which had lots...

We were scheduled to stay for 2 nights but loved the place so much we stayed 6. It is a great place to stay and see the surrounding area. Great location for Mount Rushmore, seeing animals and Bear Country. The camp host were AMAZING!!!

We had a room in the motel section, which was very clean and more than adequate. The real benefit of the State Game Lodge is location--we hiked the Lover's LeSp Trail right from our door and had two very nice dinners in the President's Dining Room. Love this park, and will be back at the Lodge unless we are with...

This is my first review ever on Trip Advisor. But I just had to write it to tell everyone about this amazing place. We stayed one night (should have stayed more) in one of the main lodge's seven rooms. We arrived late from Canada, hoping to make dinner before 9 p.m. But our GPS screwed up. We called to ask...

I just spent 2 nights here, now, it's not a slick fancy new hotel, the rooms are a bit tight but it was clean and the bed was comfy. The main building is simply stunning and the breakfast buffet was great. The buffalo sirloin I had for dinner was to die for!! Make sure and do the buffalo safari jeep...

This is a not a modern, sleek, luxury hotel. The Lodge is not a 1,000 room conference center behemoth in an urban setting. It's an historic lodge in a stunning natural environment that seems to work very hard to strike the right balance between modern comforts and historic charm. In my opinion, it succeeds nicely, and when you factor in...

If I had known how amazing Custer State Park (see review) is, it wouldn’t have taken me so long to get there. We were there early in the “season” when the crowds were low and the weather was unusually warm. There are all levels of accommodation at Custer to fit all budgets and tastes. We chose the State Game Lodge....

We recently spent the weekend as a family at the State Game Lodge in Custer State Park. This was a very special trip for my family with historical significance. The State Game Lodge was exactly what we anticipated from seeing photos from the late 1920's. The management has done a phenomenal job restoring the lodge as well as the additions...
