Kona Tiki needs a facelift. Peeling paint, rotted wood around windows and sole ceiling fan doesn't generate enough breeze to cool the room. The closer one is to Road the louder it is and the lighter the breeze. The Kona Tiki is open air. If one closes blinds for privacy and to block light at night, you get no breeze....

If you are lucky enough to stay here, your in for a great time! Rooms are a bit older and rustic, but clean and comfortable. Every room has its own little lanai, which opens to the sounds of crashing waves like you've never heard before. Breakfast is served 7-9 and consist of fruit and baked goods and coffee or tea....

We spent ten days at the Kona Tiki Hotel and found it clean, comfortable and one of the best deals for the money ever. The owners are both welcoming and accommodating. The rooms are right on the ocean and provide a solid 70 db of rolling surf to lull you to sleep.nightly. There's a gentle breeze off the ocean, so...

My husband and I stayed here for a total of 7 nights. Before booking this place I checked online including tripadvisor for reviews. There are enough of good reviews so I didn't read too much and go ahead to booked their most expensive Suite. The moment that we checked in. I realized we Couldn't shut the windows as there was...

This hotel is one of the oldest hotels on the island, but that just adds to it's charm. It is also a place of community. Guests gather in the evening for pupu's at 5:30 and the newest guest is tapped to blow the conch shell and light the Tiki Torches at sunset. There is a continental breakfast consisting of papaya,...

TripAdvisor reviews nudged me towards this choice, and I was not disappointed. I stayed three days with my husband and seven-year-old grandson. My husband initially grumbled about the lack of TV, spotty WiFi, and the sound of crashing waves that he claimed made it hard to sleep, but by Day 2 he was thoroughly converted! The location, great staff and...

We stayed here for 3 night during our Hawaii holiday. This was the best hotel during our entire stay. It is not extremely luxuary, but so very charming. Laying in bed during the night and hearing the waves is just wonderful. The balcony also had a very nice view on the ocean and we even spotted a whale. This place...

Location, location, location. The hotel is on the water side of Alii Drive. Which for us is a big part of being in a tropical location. If you are interested in world travel see our not for profit blog havecarryonwilltravel.com. It is a 1/2 mile or so from 'downtown' but you need a car to get around Kona anyway so...

I discovered this hotel on TripAdvisor and was happy with the choice. This is an older property and the rooms have no TV's or clock radios. In my three nights here, I heard ZERO room noise from other guests. The only constant sound is the crashing of the surf outside, which put me to sleep in about 2 minutes. Rooms...

I stayed on the big island for eight nights in three totally different hotels/locations. I was at the Kona Tiki for my first four nights and it was by far my favorite. If you require luxury, a TV, air conditioning or a sandy beach front property, this isn't it. But if you're looking for a charming, quiet, comfortable, affordable hotel...
