Highly recommend. All I had hoped for in a Hawaiian resort. Beautiful open air lobby. Greeted by friendly staff. Right on the ocean gave beautiful sunset views and sounds of the waves crashing against the rocks put me right to sleep every night. Very affordable for a genuine Hawaiian resort right on the ocean!! Other reviews mention it being not...

The Royal Kona Resort was one of the biggest disappointments of our visit to the Big Island. Although it looks like a paradise, its better days have passed it by. The beds are terrible and old. There needs to be a complete renovation of the rooms. The fans from the restaurant make the rooms on that side of the hotel...

We had booked a week at the Royal Kona Resort without reading any reviews and mainly going off the resorts website. A couple weeks before our trip, I started reading reviews and to be honest, I was very worried that we had made a mistake. Upon checking into the resort, my immediate thought was that the ground were beautiful and...

The hotel is an older hotel but has perhaps the best location in Kona; it is oceanside and basically on the main Kona strip. The views we had from our 7th floor room were amazing. On the first night, we had an obstructed but decent views of the luau. On the second late afternoon, we saw a humpback whale tale...

It looks like a lot of reviewers have been harsh on this resort. I tend to take a different view of the purpose for a hotel and my review is from that perspective. When we travel we are not going somewhere like Hawaii to spend the day in the hotel, we sleep, shower, and maybe eat breakfast at the hotel...

1) We checked in around 10 PM, as we were coming from Hilo after a visit from Volcano National Park. The front desk could not find anyone to help us with our luggage to our room at this time. 2) The hotel Parking attendant had left so I could not get a parking card to go in and out of...

We arrived many hours before check-in but they had our rooms available very quickly and way in advance of the official check-in time. I appreciated this. The partial ocean-view rooms are worth it or you will end up looking at a parking lot and a busy street. This hotel is very noisy so spring for ocean-view or partial ocean-view. Also,...

First off, when I first arrived to the Royal Kona Resort we were treated with excellent service. Liz was a great big help and was kind and she seemed like she loved her job and the guests here at the resort. The view along the ocean is beautiful. And the mango mojito and Mai Tais at the bar are delicious....

Had to wait for our room to be prepared at 6 p.m.! Then got the noisiest, back-alley no-ocean view room right next to the elevator. Elevator worked, but slammed the doors with virtually no time for more than one person to get in to hold the door. Parking was usually difficult due to the luau crowd, even though we had...

Everything that can be said about the Royal Kona has already been said and nesrly all of it is true. I might be less harsh than most but the resort is a good value if you are just looking for a place to sleep. My wife and I got up early everyday and came back late. Beds are comfy, rooms...
