We had the best stay at Sunshine House! The room was beautiful, it was quiet, close to the water, and we can’t say enough about the breakfast! We booked a fishing trip and Marsha and Mike had breakfast ready at 5:00 am. They made homemade bagels, homemade sausage, salmon poke, house smoked cheeses, etc. wow! Our clothes were stinky and covered in fish slime (after fishing) and they even washed them for us. They have a passion for their b&b and taking care of people. If we’re ever in Seward in the future, we will stay here again!!! We highly recommend this b&b. Mike and Marsha are great people ❤️Fabulous!!!!

We stayed at Sunshine House for 2 nights in October. Marsha and Mike were both great hosts. From the comfort and cleanliness of our room to the fabulous hospitality and delicious breakfasts, we enjoyed every minute. We were a little late for the seasonal activities but they were able to arrange a sightseeing trip by boat for us. It was the highlight of our trip to Alaska. I highly recommend the Sunshine House Bed and Breakfast.

We stayed at the Sunshine House B&B during our stay in Seward. Mike and Marsha were great hosts... full of great information re: the surrounding area. The room was very comfortable and clean... one of the most comfortable beds have slept in on a vacation. The food is stellar. I loved the taste of salmon each morning, prepared in different ways. So very delicious. Mike gave great suggestions re: things to do. We caught a flavor for life in Alaska from Mike and Marsha. He even convinced me to hike in an area where there were bears on our way back to Anchorage (one of my big fears). So glad we went on the hike. Even more glad we were able to stay at Sunshine Inn with hosts Mike and Marsha.

This place is a sparkling gem in a beautiful setting and really sets the bar for the best in B&B experiences. Filled to the brim with gorgeous artwork from an eclectic collection of local artists, with a sun-drenched deck overlooking the mountains and bay, the house is long rather than wide and deceptively small-appearing in front. It's like entering some kind of magic space, an Alice-in-Wonderland optical illusion. Comfortably draped with museum-worthy quilts handmade by the hostess, Marsha, and filled with comfy furniture, their beautiful home is really a vacation all on its own. Both hosts are tremendously accomplished cooks and the breakfast by itself is well worth the trip! We stayed for 4 days and in that time enjoyed salmon mousse spread over homemade sourdough English muffins, gorgeous made-to-order omelets with house-smoked cheese, french toast casserole, oven potatoes, tender salmon patties dripping with creamy hollandaise, sourdough pancakes, smoked salmon bellies, fireweed jam, pickled salmon and probably more that I can't remember! Watching Terry cook is really like watching a master chef in an open kitchen, they have this down to a science! Each meal is unique, a carefully planned experience, and I feel like you could stay for many days and not eat the same thing twice. Mike and Marsha have insiders knowledge of all the local restaurants and attractions, down to who is a stickler for arriving early and who doesn't mind if you're running late. Their recommendations are always spot-on. We really got lucky staying with them, they book out way in advance and we got to stay due to COVID cancellations. In the future, I will be making plans a year in advance if necessary not to miss out on this!

From the moment I contacted Marsha I knew this place was going to be great. The no pressure relaxed atmosphere when we were booking our stay continued. Marsha also booked a fjord tour for us which was a "must" during our visit in Steward. The house is right downtown, the room was clean and comfortable. The hosts.... they were so amazing. I really can't say enough about Mike and Marsha, they are just lovely, friendly people. Great conversationalists and pretty darn good cooks! Mike's hand drawn map guided us on the next leg of our trip and thanks to Marsha's picture of encouragement (wow - the salmon just jump like nobody's business there) we had a fantastic hike along the russian river which I'm sure we would've driven right past otherwise. If you want to get to see Steward, have a great breakfast, and meet 2 of the loveliest regular Alaskan folks..... this is it.
