Stay somewhere that doesn't feel like just anywhere. The State Hotel lies in the heart of downtown Seattle, and here the city's spirit is unmistakably apparent. There's a sense you get upon stepping inside, wandering around, and chatting with us. Your experience at The State will be an immersion in local flavor and adventure. The character of Seattle was borne out of creativity and an adventurous spirit. That's the soul of this property. What was originally built in 1904 as a medical office building soon became something very different. In the 1930s, Ben Paris, a Seattle entrepreneur, operated a billiard parlor, gambling hall, and restaurant out of the Eitel building. Almost a century later, it's been converted into a contemporary, independent, downtown Seattle hotel.

We came here for our honeymoon. We called to see if they had any options. We were told to talk to the front desk when we arrived. When we talked to the front desk we were told that options would be provided as well as a bottle being sent upstairs. We stayed for three days. The bottle never arrived. No options were ever provided. When we checked out we were charged an amenities fee which had never been disclosed (thankfully that was cancelled). I mentioned the honeymoon issue and was shown that their records indicated everything that had been discussed. The final straw. After we checked out we were told a manager would call to discuss our stay with us. No call ever happened. Thankfully the hotel is very pretty.

Stayed 3 nights with the wife and dog. king bed room was spotless and decently sized, unlike some reviews that mention the rooms being too small. Bed was extremely comfortable. Shower was decent, good water pressure but could have been a little bit hotter since the design has no shower door so all the steam escapes into the rest of the bathroom. Best location in the city in my opinion, 2 minute walk to pike market, Target across the street, and H-mart a 2 minute walk away for any necessities needed. Service/Hospitality was good, but nothing above and beyond in our opinion. Secure at night with a friendly guard in the lobby. Cant blame the hotel for the homeless all over outside, but a single female may not find it ideal. Our first night we woke up to a mentally ill person yelling a 3am . Why not 5 stars then? well for paying a $22 amenity fee, we we're never offered any "complimentary drinks upon arrival", and never saw a "daily snack cart" the whole 4 days we were there. Parking is literally right around the corner, back up 2nd ave, simple to explain with a quick walk out the door and hand pointing, but instead you're left to get that info from the QR scan on the front desk, which apple maps has a hard time getting you there with all the no left turns on 3rd ave. On the fence on wether we'll return or try somewhere else next spring

A last-minute engagement opportunity popped up and The State Hotel answered the call. Rob at the front desk took my call and offered a rooftop patio suite. On arrival, we took notice of the unique personality of the hotel like social distancing signs of crowd surfing at a Nirvana concert is not allowed and thoughtfully curated artwork and decor that clearly has local roots. The room was stacked with personalized welcome cards, fresh flowers from Pike Place Market, chilled bubbles, and an amazing cheese plate to help us celebrate! We then went down to dinner and the Chef at Ben Paris offered a special dinner option called the Supper Club. Specialty cocktails were quick to arrive (must try the Gin Griffy Jr) from our server Abigale who offered us warm, genuine, and bubbly service that was chaulked with information about the history and creation of the restaurant. Corse after course of share plates came one after another. Beef and anchovies tartar, celery root soup with scallop, spicy grilled carrots, lamb sausage, and local shellfish risotto, the best classic carrot cake I have ever had, and finally tiny little bites of coconut and passion fruit macaroons. My new fiance now has a favorite hotel in Seattle and we will back!

The staff was so accommodating at the State Hotel. Everyone I interacted with was so nice and professional, I really felt taken care of during my stay. The room (King Suite) was absolutely amazing and huge, totally worth it to get the balcony/king suite. And the best part is they're pet friendly!

Rain, Riots, Closed National Parks, Closed restaurants were overcome by the fine staff of The State Hotel. From before our arrival Norm helped me find and prepay local parking which was great. The bringing of ice, towels and creative coffee packs were done by the greatest service staff. The desk staff always had a smile and service suggestion that made our stay even greater. From the cool wallpaper to the great roof terrace views this place was a step above. Make no mistake this is a high end location stay in Seattle that should be experienced. Oh yes they do supply umbrellas for the rain part and taxis to get around the riots.
