I think the Hotel has a captive market for anyone choosing to stay overnight on the island but it doesn't abuse its monopoly. It is conveniently almost the first building you come to after you walk off the ferry. The decor is in stylish modern colours and materials and creates a chic ambience. Our room was large with two good... More

we visited this quiet island on October 1st out of season, and were surprised by the full ferry. However this meant that the few restaurants that were open were full and we hadn't thought to book, so we hot footed back to the Hotel Napoleon, desperate, thinking we would be without lunch and by this time the shop and baker was shut.... Ile D'Aix is a very pleasant little island. Once the daytrippers are gone, the pace slows down and you are in a relaxing place that is actually quite pretty and pleasant. The hotel is very good: - our room faced the inner courtyard and was pleasant - the inner courtyard is a very pleasant place to hang out and read... More

Stayed here at the end of October. The weather was still great and this lovely little hotel was a perfect base from which to explore the island. Rooms were comfortable and food of a good standard. The hotel is a short walk from the harbour and is conveniently placed near some small shops ad bicycle hire companies. Next time we... More

Booked as a 'wonderbox' gift. Having used this type of gift voucher before one can have the feeling of being a second rate guest. However at this Hotel it was totally the contrary. From arrival to departure the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is impeccably clean, the rooms modern, well equipped and comfortable. We ate in the restaurant... More

Chosen for a two night stay after reading various reviews; and very pleased that we went. Very nice, helpful staff team. Room in excellent condition, and they must all be well used over the high season, dinner very enjoyable. We really couldn't have asked for more ... and look forward to a return visit.

We spent 2 nights on the island with our 3 small children. We stayed in the suite which was ideally laid out for the family, nice decor and amenities (free wifi), nice cot with mattress for baby, and large enough for a short trip. The only thing to know is that there is no air conditioning in the room, which... More

Our first night at the Napoleon was excellent. The restaurant is superb, our bed was comfortable and the shower, fantastic. Our second night was not so good. The restaurant was still superb but the smell outside our room was awful. It was like someone had placed a giant vat of effluent outside our window, allowing the breeze to waft it... More

Fantastic hotel, beautifully decorated. Attentive and friendly staff. A really special place. Good continental breakfast for €12 and an upmarket restaurant. A nice change of pace from La Rochelle. Be prepared to make your own entertainment In the evening and cycle firing the day. You will probably leave inspired to redecorate your home!

The hotel is Simple and chic, located at the top of the 'high street' and is in keeping with the general charm of the island. The rooms are simple, small but well catered and the restaurant houses a very good food and wine menu. It's the perfect base to explore and enjoy the island's setting. Recommend getting a bike and...
