This campground was clean and quiet. Short walk to free showers, camp store and the Knife Edge Café. Pancake breakfast at the Knife Edge Café was really good. Lunch and dinner items were pretty good too.

Private tent camping locations within Mesa Verde. Fair rates providing showers, restrooms, laundry, grocery store, fuel and restaurant...everything you need. Location is the closest camping to sites. Nightly ranger presentation in nearby outdoor theater.

Morefield Campground is a classic example of what happens when you privatize a traditional park service facility. Price is much higher than other national park campgrounds and maintenance and service goes down. It costs us $30 a night to stay here. We had just come...More

The sites on this campground are a little close together, and if you have more than one tent you will need to be selective. But most sites have trees to provide privacy and a wind break. Note that even with a reservation, site selection is...More

Firstly let me state that it was refreshing that this campground has so many sites that you can almost always get a site without any previous reservations. This is far different than most national parks which require you to reserve a site months in advance....More

Can you view any of the cliff dwellings from the outside without actually taking a tour and entering them? My husband would not be able to take a tour and climb the ladders due to his back back.

Yes. If you take the driving tour through the park, you'll have opportunities to view a few of the dwellings from different vantage points....along with other magnificent views.

Are all the cliff dwellings only accessible by very tall ladders down steep cliffs? My husband has a bad back and wouldn't be able to handle that. Is there quite a bit of hiking required to get to the cliff dwellings?
