Detailed Reviews
1st post lockdown meal out and the staff and service were great. Really felt they were doing their best with regards to social distancing, felt staff were trying at all times to keep customers safe. Great service from all the staff who were also friendly and courteous, food was faultless with all of our party enjoying their meals. Will definitely be back.

My husband and I had lunch here on Sunday with friends and it was beautiful, we all had starters of chicken goujons, belly pork and homemade nachos, followed by steak pie,and roast beef dinner. All were excellent and really plentiful. Staff were really pleasant and friendly and all guidelines adhered to.
I would love to eat here again when we're back in the area.

Amazing staff, lovely rooms and great beer garden. Visited for a couple of nights while visiting family could not have asked for a better place to stay.
Shops and public transport pretty close by which made getting into the city centre very easy will definitely be returning.

I booked this hotel back in March as we were I booked this hotel back in March as we were attending a 60th school reunion function in the cricket club down the road. Alarm bells should have rung when I made two phone calls and an email to get confirmation of my booking. No confirmation was ever received, There are two sides to this hotel: downstairs the bar is smart and the function rooms are excellent at the time a wedding was going on all looked great.
Going upstairs Our room had WiFi, tv and a comfortable, clean bed it had reading lights over the bed and some new decor, a walk in shower room with toilet only let down in the shower by hair on the wall tiles that hadn’t been cleaned off, Above the bathroom door a service hatch door that was hanging off, held on by one hinge, then when you looked around the rest of the room, it left a lot to be desired, for a £120 room which was mediocre at best,
No wardrobe, just a slim unit with a couple of coat hangers for clothes. Single glazed sash windows which made the room very noisy when staff were emptying bottles out the back of the building and you could hear everything going on below the room the noise was appalling, there was a function on, so didn't expect to get a good night's sleep, as the function went on late into the night.
going on till 12.30am.
Most of the noise was from the bar and the kitchen area, Oh almost forgot about some person with a guitar singing badly.
I went onto their fb page and was shocked to read that they stated all the rooms were filling up quickly the truth being is that only one other person (who also was going to the school reunion) was staying totaling three people in all, (two rooms).
went down for breakfast this morning OMG I’ve had better at a motorway café, didn’t get much of a choice of what you could order, a so called breakfast turned up and that is what you had.
It's very clear to see that this hotel is not really concerned about the guest accommodation side of the business and concentrates all its efforts on the function side.
On the drive home we asked ourselves
Price? £120 very over priced for what you get.
Would we stay again?
Definitely not in its present set up.
Would we recommend it for a function?
yes definitely.
A good location and a lovely building, great function room but badly let down on the guest accommodation side that needs a lot of attention.
This could be a good part of the business if the effort was made.

This is disappointing to write this as so looking forward to going to The Georgian for meal. On arrival told booking was indoors and this was confusing as I booked outdoors. Seemingly due to bad weather area picked for seating was wet.No alternative outside however advised this would be a priority so agreed to sit inside for meal only. Meal was disappointing-starter was cold & tasteless. Sent back on 2 occasions. Main (steak) was fine but thought taste could have been better. At end of meal advised no alternative outside unless I wanted to sit at the wet table !!! My 5.30 -10.00 booking finished at 7.30 and I will not be a returning customer.

Great lunch today, we were staying at a local B&B and this was recommended to us.
The starters were both from the specials menu, salt & chilli squid and scallops. Both equally amazing and light enough for a lunch starter.
I then had the daily special lasagne and it was so good. Meaty and cheesy just as I like it! My husband really enjoyed the steak pie and said the veg was tasty. The food and plates were piping hot.
For dessert the chef/our server sorted us a bespoke dessert with some twists of one on the menu and it was to die for!!!
Great ambience
Great service
Staff were so attentive and friendly and nothing was a problem even our off menu dessert. The clientele were really friendly and enjoyed chatting to them too
Thanks so much, one of the highlights of our weekend

Booked a double room with space for a cot for our toddler by phoning the hotel and asking about space for our travel cot.
We told them we would attending a party in the hall at the Georgian that evening an thought it would be great to stay at the hotel to get the wee one to bed for 9/10pm.
Little did we know our room was above the bar area where they had a singer/guitarist playing through a PA. No mention of this to us when booking. No mention of it when we phoned to double check space for cot. No mention of it when we showed to check in or when we paid double price for their disgusting pub grub.
We had to take the wee man to the car n let him sleep there until the guitarist who were told would finish at 11. I seen him at reception while taking the wee man up to his cot, get him settled when the guy starts playing again waking the wee man screaming. Wish id looked for more reviews as a lot on here are about going to the bar/function hall. wont be staying there again or recommending it to anyone

Selected this hotel as it’s conveniently 10 minutes walk away from Blairhill railway station which gives none stop rail links to Glasgow and Edinburgh whilst leaving your car in their free car park. Hotel in quiet residential area although there was a bit of noise from the bar down stairs. Room ok, a little small but sufficient space for our 3 days away. Daily housekeeping very efficient and always returned to a lovely clean room. Bathroom tiny with wet room arrangement and shower which was in need of a bit of tlc, it worked with plenty of hot water but head needed securing properly. We had a full Scottish breakfast which was well cooked and plentiful. All staff were really welcoming, helpful and friendly. Bar downstairs where you could get an evening meal if required although we didn’t try the food. You should be aware that the hotel is unstaffed overnight, although there is an emergency number for the owner/ manager should you need it.

Had an overnight stay at the end of October as we were attending a function in the Hotel.
We had an early flight so arrived way before check in but the lady at the desk (Janet I think) done a little jiggling about, had a word with the manager/owner (Brendan) and managed to get us into a room straight away. This was so appreciated since we'd been on the go since 4am!
The room and bathroom were spotless. The bed was one of the most comfortable I've slept in for some time.
We had lunch in the bar. Fish & chips and steak pie and when it came, I expected some kind of microwave offering as the service was so quick. Absolutely not, both meals were fresh, hot and simply delicious. Didn't get the name of the young girl serving us but she was friendly and attentive.
We really enjoyed our stay even though I have limited mobility (I was aware there was no lifts when I booked) Thankfully the stairs weren't too steep and I was able to manage them.

Would definitely NOT recommend as meal was poor and staff/management are NOT interested.
We booked a table on Sunday 23 October 2022 for my 35th wedding anniversary as we had not been there for a long time and knew it had been really good in the past. I had the Sunday roast but some of it was hot and some was slightly warm and there was what looked like congealed gravy on my plate which was very off putting. My husband had fish and chips but it was just average and the batter wasn't crisp. Neither of us finished our meals. I reported this to the waitress and she asked me for contact details, which I left, as there was nobody there that could deal with the complaint. She said that somebody would contact me but it is now 9 November 2022 and I have not heard from anyone. I got the impression that I was being fobbed off and since nobody has contacted me, I know now that I was right to feel that way. All in all, not a pleasant dining experience.
I did not understand why there was nobody there to deal with my complaint and my daughter has worked in hospitality for over 10 years and she also did not understand why there was no supervisor or manager there to deal with my complaint at that time.
