We often stay at five star hotels, but have had great luck in the Fairmont chain here and there as well. This hotel is well maintained, clean for it's age, and the staff are great. That said, it does not dazzle - particularly the room. We experienced a hairball hanging from one of the closet doors, lights didn't work (some even went on and off on their own while on), no laundry bag provided, etc. The rooms are VERY dated to say the least. I am admittedly very high maintenance when it comes to my initial impression. We were comfortable enough to stay, but disappointed in the appearance to say the least. I like to be dazzled on vacation, especially for $700+ a night. That said, it is in a great location. Convenient to a great boogie boarding beach (Po'olenalena) for kids and adults alike. Turtles, snorkeling, etc. Also in a nice area for morning runs/exercise. Would book the next-door Four Seasons or Grand Wailea if I had to do it all over again.…
My wife and I have been coming to Maui for over 35 years but have never experienced staying at the Fairmont Kea Lani until this past week. We discovered a first class property and staff there. It started with our initial contact with In-House Reservations department who sincerely took the time and care to make sure our first stay at the Fairmont Kea Lani was ideal. Once on property, from the bellman to the front desk, everyone on staff seems to truly enjoy their jobs and be customer focused. That was particularly evident when dining at Ko, beginning with our memorable ‘Twilight’ dining experience we enjoyed on Valentine’s Day, where our server, Leanne, provided great service and insight on our meal. It was so enjoyable that we decided to spend our last night on the island again at Ko. A late afternoon rain shower had limited the outdoor seating options, but the hostess, Sylvia, made it a point to come find us at our original table to let us know that one farther outside had opened up if we were still interested in moving, which we did. That simple gesture really made our evening more relaxed and enjoyable, combined with the great attentive service we received from our server, Misty. The food was consistently exceptional as well that evening. My wife and I both agree that the Fairmont Kea Lani will now be one of our destinations for future stays on Maui. The accommodations and staff are amazing! We look forward to experiencing the “Aloha Spirit" at the Fairmont Kea Lani again in the future.…
We have been to Maui multiple times, but this was our first stay at the Fairmont Kea Lani. This won't be our last. The views are amazing the staff is incredible. This is the first time that I felt so welcomed as a guest in Maui. We normally stay in Kaanapali, which is nice, but I have never felt welcomed as a visitor. We met a gentleman in the bar (socially distanced of course) that had been staying every year at the Kea Lani since 1994. After our stay we understood precisely how one would go back again and again.
This hotel is horribly mismanaged. Granted there is a pandemic, but all other luxury hotels in Wailea have better services. No concierge on duty past 3 pm. Restaurants are both mediocre compared to all others we sampled in Resort area.Rooms called deluxe ocean view have far background views , for only a few villas and a handful of rooms have unobstructed views. Rooms are large, but unrenovated. If you want a true luxury experience, Four Seasons way worth the extra cost. If you choose to stay here, when you walk over to eat or drink at the Four Seasons, you will experience true style and luxury , and you will feel disappointed when you get back and look around the Kea Lani
My husband and I had a wonderful time on our babymoon here in January 2021!! The staff was wonderful, from check-in to check-out. The beach is lovely, and we loved the chair and umbrella setup. The pools, particularly the adult pool, was wonderful, and poolside drinks were great. I had a beachside prenatal massage - they have the belly-pillow that is WONDERFUL. Mani/Pedi was also fantastic. I also felt their COVID protocols were fantastic. I felt very safe during my stay, and have already recommended this Fairmont to several family/friends! Can't wait to come back..
