While a little ways away from the town, this place is worth the extra drive. It is so beautiful and peaceful there; the grounds were full of flowers and hummingbirds, and the steam bath was a great way to relax on the chilly nights. The service could not have been better and the room was very cozy and comfortable. I... More

Located in an absolutely breathtaking part of mindo, where the splendor of the cloudforest is most evident. Absolutely enjoyed spending time at the site and was almost reluctant to leave to go into town. The service was excellent and personal, and the food was exquisit. Highly recommended. My father got a cold just before we arrived, and the staff pampered... More

My stay here was so nice. Dora is the nicest lady in the world. I misplaced my towel the night that i was leaving and she helped me look all over for it. She was also really worried and upset that we could not find it because she thought one of the employees might have taken it. Turns out that... More

We drove directly from the Quito airport to Mindo in a small rental car reaching El Abrazo del Arbol late evening. Our car somehow made it through the five flowing creeks that run across the rocky road to this location. After the long car ride, we were in for a pleasant surprise at this eco lodge that was no less... More

El Abrazo del Arbol is at the very end of a long dirt road...about 20 minutes' ride. Our guide had to drive through 5 flowing, rocky "rivers" to get there! We were fine with that, as we were prepared for a little adventure and, after all, you're no longer in the city when you're in the heart of the cloud... More

I have been to El Abrazo del Arbol twice now, once for a quiet weekend with friends and once with a group of students. Both times the staff went out of their way to be accommodating and kind. This family run establishment in the heart of the cloud forest will give you a beautiful getaway but keep you close to... More

I've been a couple of times in El Abrazo del Arbol and I would definitely go once again. Its just a beautiful place with excellent service and amazing food. Hummingbirds, forests, good weather and the lovely views make this place one that I would always recommend.

I spent 3 days there. It is a really nice place, very beautiful, nice food (even if the choice is rather limited). The location is extremely beatiful but there is only one short trail to the river. There is another trail, a long one but it is not marked and you cannot go there on your own. We had a... More

Mindo is a tiny little town in the depths of the Andean Jungle, if you are going to experience tranquil surrounds with just the noise of the forest and enjoy the best food in town, stay at Abrazo. You wake up to the drum of the hummingbirds and look out onto views of great waterfalls tumbling over the steep mountainous... More

“There is a thatched roof Yoga shelter, a chemical free, spring fed pool, a sauna and miles of trails to make an exquisite fitness center. The ambiance of the rooms, the decks and the gathering area make every room a prize. Views are phenomenal from any room and the sounds of silence are interrupted only by the sounds of birds and, at night, frogs.”

“One thing to keep in mind: The lodge has a "tree-house" feel to it and you can easily hear folks walking on floors above you so if you are a light sleeper or irritated by this kind of thing, I recommend requesting a room on the top floor.”
