This hostel, this place, is a little paradise. The volunteers are awesome, the owner is funny and the vibe is super tranquilo. It's a small town but just what you need if you want to truly unwind and relax. I stayed in a dorm and it was very comfortable and equipped with air condition. I also loved that the fruit...

I absoultely loved my time at Viejamar! If you want a place to come and just chill this is the place! The people here are great and helpful. There isn't much in Las Tunas which is a nice change for me but you can find whatever you need in Puerto Lopez which is only $1 cab ride away. Las Tunas...

Perfect. Pick anything: the beautiful organisation of the place, the decoration, thevegetation, the pool, the view from the balcony, the weather, the great, fun and amazing volunteers who were working while I was there, the sandy place, aka beach, quiet and perfect for surfing, the locals, the fruits and vegetables guy, the other guests, and last but not least, the...

This place is a paradise - cute and clean cabins (with en suite hot showers!), beautiful grounds full of hibiscus, a great pool, a huge unspoilt beach (with great surfing) which you often have all to yourself, bbqs, bonfires on the beach, surfing, amazing sunsets... All of this together with the people - the lovely friendly volunteers who make you...

Before we arrived, we thought we would stay just a few days to meet up with a friend, but it was way too beautiful to leave so soon. The owner, Rodrigo, sees to the plants' wellbeing at the hostel and his property a few miles away. As a result there are a lot of beautiful and sometimes rare birds just...

I spent 3 weeks in Viejamar in January 2017. This is one of these places which is hard to leave... The location is perfect. Quiet, natural, beautiful and close from a town where you can find anything you need (atm, marketing, supermarket, shop, etc). It is located just at the beach, so you can see and hear the ocean all...

a very chilled place in the little village las tunas with lots of waves to ride (no crowd). Clean, nice staff and lovely locals. Best time to surf is from December to April. But there are waves the whole year.

Viejamar is a cozy beach paradise tucked away in between Puerto Lopez and Montañita. The next village, Ayampe, attracts a lot of Europeans and North Americans, but I myself preferred Las Tunas, where Viejamar is located. We saw far more local families walking around there and it really felt like we lived la vida ecuatoriana while there. The staff were...

Nice community areas with kitchen, its on the beach, private hostel and cozy. The staff is very friendly and make you feel like home, and breakfast was really good. Everything was so convenient at the place and the price was really good for what you paid for.
