We recently stayed at La Selva Lodge as part of a multigenerational family trip (11 people, ages 10-76). Getting to this lodge is partly the experience, requiring a plane, motorboat, walking, and a canoe. Mind-boggling to realize that all supplies are brought in this way. We were in the family cabins, absolutely luxurious but still at-one with the rainforest. The...

Thank you so much for your review and it was no problem at all to send your son's backpack! When it comes to our guest's we have no problem going above and beyond, in this case we understood how important it was for your son to be reacquainted with his belongings. We are very glad you and the rest of...

Great Location with the lake in front - makes La Selva private and also more appealing than being on the Napo River. The black water lake also keeps the bugs down and allows for swimming. Food was very good, guides great, housekeeping wonderful. Our room was fantastic - quiet, wonderful view, great bed and nice porch for reading, etc. The...

Dear Sheldon, Thank you so much for your review and feedback. You made some very good points, we also suggest to our guests that if they are interested in visiting the Galapagos they do this after a visit anywhere in the Amazon. This is mainly because the Amazon is home to many shy creatures, big and small and the Amazon...

The Lodge is in the most beautiful location and we were so well looked after. Our guide, Paul, was excellent. He has a real passion for the work he does and is extremely knowledgeable. It is a very special place and we have so many memories of the amazing animals Paul showed us. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there.

I love the feeling of going somewhere very isolated and serene. We had to fly to Coca, take a two hour boat ride on the Napo River and paddle a canoe for an hour to get to this magnificent lodge. La Selva Lodge is my happy place! Everything from the introduction to the staff, excursions in the rain forest, the...

The ride from Coca to the lodge is 2 ½ hours on a motorized canoe with zero chance of a bathroom break in-between, so be prepared for that. The hotel is remote yet fairly luxurious. We encountered only a handful of mosquitoes as we were told they don't like the fast curren of the lagoon the lodge is on. Concerns...

Thank you Patronking for your excellent review of La Selva! We appreciate you taking the time to offer your feedback. The size of the Amazon Rainforest is quite immense when compared to Costa Rica! We spent 4 days and 3 nights at La Selva and had an amazing experience. Our room was huge, beautifully decorated and very comfortable. “The lodge is not really accessible to disabled people. The accommodation is in separate cabins, nearly all are approached by stairs.”

“Take quick dry light weight clothes, humidity is high. Be prepared for the heat. If you drink wine with meals, buy by the bottle rather than the glass. Recommend a good telephoto lens for the camera; about 30x for wildlife photography. A headlamp is better than a flashlight for the night excursions, buy I would bring both.”
