When you book from Australia a guide for an adventure in the Amazon, you don't really expect to find that he is a thirty year old English ex pat when you get there. Turns out in over a decade of guiding in Ecuador Daniel's knowledge has grown to a phenomenal level. He and local guide Dario saw everything and missed...

One should always be ready for surprises when it comes to visiting La Selva Jungle Lodge in the Ecuadorian Amazon! Even when it comes to our guides, they are truly a special breed and each has a special love for the Amazon. We will make sure to pass your comments on to Daniel, he will be glad to have heard...

Right from the time they meet and greet you at Quito Airport, including checking in your luggage for you, this lodge oozes top quality service. Guests are met again at Coca Airport, and then transferred to the dock. They take care of everything. For instance you don't touch your luggage from getting off the plane until arriving in your room.You...

Our stay in La Selva Lodge was a highlight of a 22 day tour of Ecuador. We were flown in from Quito to a town west of Coca ( for some reason) and travelled by boat down the a mighty river and then transferred to canoes to travel to Lake Garzacocha where the Lodges are situated. The weather was inclement...

22 days in Ecuador! That is great, so glad you got to really see Ecuador and took time out of your trip to see our beautiful part of the Amazon as well! Coca is the closest place to travel to La Selva via the Napo River, which is the only access to La Selva. Otherwise it is a quite a...

From Coca airport you are moved to the river and taken by a motorized canoe a 2 hour ride, you get a boxed meal. From the docking area there is short walk and than a 30 minute on a canoe floated Manually. The resort is located on a lagoon, very nice bungalows site from outside. The inside room is very...

Thank you for sharing your experience at La Selva. We do understand that the rainforest is a humid area, which is why we've provided cieling fans and dry boxes for each accommodation to protect electronics and have relief from the climate of the tropical forest. If you happen to be visiting, don't forget to ask for a massage or for...

I researched the tree lodges that seemed to be of similar caliber in the same area. They all looked darn good, but there were a few factors that made La Selva stand out. We chose the 5 day/4 night package. My wife and I flew the 30 minutes from Quito, were picked up at the small airport in Coca with...

Dear RyBo44, What a great account of your time at La Selva, thank you so much for sharing! It was a great read and reminded us of just how lucky we are to work with such a great guide like Rodrigo. To get to this lodge we travelled by canoe through narrow waterways to the lagoon where the lodge is situated. The guides took us on walks and paddles each day and their knowledge was extensive. We walked in the jungle at night and floated on the lagoon in the evening to watch the stars. There was a huge tree with...

My husband and I loved our time at La Selva. While the food, accommodation, and service were terrific, what we really enjoyed were our knowledgable and helpful guides Paul and Medardo. We learned so much about the jungle from Paul who was very enthusiastic about everything. The lodge was extremely well run, offering many interesting activities. Our walk through the...

This lodge is true luxury, but deep in the rain forest on a beautiful lake. It's about a 3-hour trip from Coca first by motorized canoe, then paddling in a smaller canoe. Our naturalist guide Paul is extremely knowledgeable about the ecosystem, flora and fauna of the rain forest, and taught us so much on every outing! The entire staff...

Our stay was a big disappointment. The lodge is so noisy. In the Quad buildings they share a common open ceiling, so you hear everything from next door.
