Leave the city behind and stay on the beachfront in Hahei - regularly voted one of the best beaches in The Coromandel and New Zealand. There's plenty of adventure with Cathedral Cove and Te Whanganui A Hei Marine Reserve on our doorstep. With over 7 hectares of award-winning grounds there’s space for everyone to find a pathway to the beach. The Seaview Villas look directly over Hahei Beach with ever-changing views of the Mercury Bay Islands from sunrise to sunset. The Beachfront Bachs are ideal for friends and family - stay together or book neighboring baches so everyone can have their space. The nostalgic cabins are great value for family getaways, all less than a minute walk to Hahei Beach! We have Allpress barista-made coffee available onsite every day. From November to Easter weekend, the onsite outdoor bar, gourmet burgers and woodfired pizzas are open on weekends and additional hours in peak summer times - check on our social media pages for the opening hours. The hot tubs on the dunes are always a favourite, check fees and availability to book your spot when you get here. The Resort is walking distance to Cathedral Cove, so put the car keys away and avoid the parking hassle. The Hahei Village with a general store, craft brewery, and cafes is a short stroll. Hot Water Beach is 10 minutes drive. Come and relax on the beachfront with friends and family - the pristine Coromandel coast and marine reserve are the ultimate natural playground.

Hahei Beach Resort garners accolades for its immaculate facilities and well-kept grounds, with the clean, spacious rooms receiving special mention. The lively atmosphere, complete with live music and a village vibe, adds to the charm of this beach-adjacent property.
While the vast array of amenities and the prime location are popular among guests, some suggest that certain areas could benefit from updates. Despite generally friendly service, a few travelers have encountered booking and refund challenges, noting these experiences as areas for improvement, especially given the resort's premium pricing.

We had a two night stay at one of the garden terrace villas. The facilities provided were excellent, very clean and tidy. Although our stay was in May we enjoyed strolling along the beach, watching the waves crashing in. We would definitely book here again when we next visit New Zealand.

I've stayed at Hahei Holiday Resort multiple times and love the location but this was my first time in one of the "Beach Hut's" very cute little hut very much enjoyed it for a good price. Nice and close to main kitchen/bathrooms/showers and had access to private "The Cove" shared kitchen as well which was nice.
Nice clean little fridge, very much enjoyed the cute outdoor seating, the ceiling fan, lighting options and multiple wall power points. Basic essentials: towels/cutlery/plaits/bowls/rubbish bin/bedding all supplied, made the stay super easy and enjoyable for a cute little weekend get away.
Great location, could do the Cathedral Cove walk straight from the campground beach access

Highly recommend the Hahei Holiday Resort. Our family of 4 (2 adults and 2 small children) stayed here for 6 nights and really enjoyed it.
We stayed the first two nights in a two story 2 bedroom Villa. This was very well appointed with a kitchenette (2 burner electric stove top), a seperate tiled shower and a big spa bath. A washing machine and clothes dryer. Even beach towels were provided and a small spade for the beach. Extremely comfortable beds. Big outdoor table with umbrella, Webber gas bbq, and outdoor bean bags, great for lazy sunny afternoons! The view out over the beach was spectacular, especially from the main bedroom upstairs. I highly recommend the Villas if you’re looking for all the comforts of home with a brilliant beach view.
For the remainder of our stay we booked a Bach. The Baches are at the other end of the resort and don’t have beach views, but have direct access to the beach as they’re right behind the sand dunes. The Baches are more spacious than the Villas and don’t have the same ammenities (no bath, no dryer). They’re open plan with a huge living, dining, kitchen space. The kitchen is full sized with a decent sized fridge, 4 gas burner stove & oven. Lots of kitchen cupboards and room for more than one person in the kitchen at a time. The bathroom is far more basic but it has everything you could need but with a bit more room than the Villa bathrooms. There’s a washing machine in the bathroom and a laundry tub, along with a personal clothes line at the back of the Bach.
Baches have 3 bedrooms, one of which is huge with a double bed and single bed plus walk in robe. 2 bedrooms have ranch slider access to seperate decks. The bed wasn’t as comfortable as the Villa bed which was a definite draw back
The Baches would be great if you have a group of people, there’s room to spread out. And it’s all on a single level which our crawling baby loved. Also handy is that there are tent sites on the lawn in front of the Baches which extended members of your group could book if you need more sleeping accommodation.
The staff were amazing. They bent over backwards for us to find somewhere to hang out for a few hours on the very wet day between checking out of the Villa and into the Bach. With two small children this was invaluable. They also couldn’t be more friendly or helpful with anything we needed during our stay.
Overall Hahei Holiday Resort is a fantastic family friendly place to stay right on the beach. Absolutely we’ll be back!!

Greetings Emma, WOW...I need you for print copy!!! What a fab review and yes I remember you guys well, what a lovely family. We popped you into the Cove dining hall between shifts and had the heaters on (a bit chilly that day as I recall). Take onboard the bed comfort, The villas have just had Super Kings installed so yes bigger beds better sleep..Will look to upgrade Baches master bedroom with Super Kings some time soon. Loved having you stay and look forward to having you back. Kindest regards, Grant and The Hahei Resort Crew

We love the campground and have been camping here for 25yrs. This year due to work schedules we could only stay 3 nights so booked a premier room located downstairs in the Villas.
Lovely and clean I'm only scoring a 3star due to the upstairs noise keeping us awake despite being advised when booking that we would'nt be able to hear anything. Well... that isnt true.
So if you dont want thumping feet overhead all day/night then try another room or another location.
A bit of a shame given it cost $750.00 for 3 nights. Disappointing.

Greetings Meredith, After 25 years of stay here in Hahei as your slice of paradise you should have pooped and seen me day two. Sometimes over exuberant kids do run around upstairs in the Villas and a quiet work from me gets the result, a quiet night for you. Sorry hope I can make up to you when your back. This is a great camp site, we were a little worried that it would be too busy as we normally choose smaller sites but we were really happy with just about everything here. The pitches are large, there are plenty of facilities over most of the camp so it never felt too busy. A suggestion would be to put a toilet/shower block at the back of the camp near the Airstrip, not a problem in the daytime but quite a walk in the middle of night. The staff at reception were exceptionally friendly and helpful sharing information and recommendations. There are a few food trucks and a bar too and on New Years Eve they had a guys singing it was a lovely family vibe with everyone enjoying the music. They also have a hot tub in the dunes that you can rent for an hour, we did this at dusk which was stunning. We will defiantly visit this camp site again, can't be too soon.

I just love the buzz of families new and old to Hahei getting together and embracing what we call camp life for a few weeks of the year. I know Paradise and Cedar are little hike to the loos and will put this in the think tank for next summer... Looking forward to seeing you return to the Hei... We've stayed at Hahei Holiday Resort in a tent on several occasions, and most recently in one of the garden studios. Every time we come away thinking 'that was awesome'.
The location is outstanding, right on the beach and with lots of space. Playground and rope swings and trees to climb for the kids, a great walk over to Cathedral Cove or up the other end of the beach to the lookout, close to Hot Water beach, great cooking, eating and bathroom facilities for campers (free showers, which is a bonus) and all kept clean and tidy. We also really enjoy the option to hire a hot tub located in the dunes above the beach - luxury! Only thing we find is the takeaways/eating out option is more expensive than in larger places.
Staying in the garden studio was fantastic. The bed was comfortable, it was sparkling clean and had everything we needed for a winter weekend away for two.
The people/staff on the desk and in the campground are always really good to deal with as well. I highly recommend this place as a year-round destination for families or couples. We'll definitely be back.

The place was great. The location is excellent, very close to the attractions (it is very easy to walk to the Cathedral Cove). They have excellent recommendations on how to get to the attractions, what to do there, where to eat in Hahei (bear in mind Hahei is a VERY small town, so there are not many restaurants, so their recommendations are very, very useful). They even left a spade in the room for you to go to Hot Water Beach, and they keep the low tide times well displayed in the reception!

My whanau have been camping at Hahei Holiday Beach Resort for 19 years now. We always book a non-powered site and have easy access to bathroom and kitchen facilities. Unfortunately on my third night at the resort I discovered some of my food had been removed from the fridge I had used (name, site and dep date labelled). I went to the office to extremely distressed as I had planned ahead and this was food for myself and my son. I came back to my camp site to a lovely surprise of fresh bread, chips, eggs, biscuits, chocolate and $20 from the staff because of what had happened and I was so extremely touched and overwhelmed by the generosity they had shown me and my boy. On top of that I noticed that they had immediately installed cameras and signs to help prevent something like this happening again. Things like this is why we always come back every summer. Thank you so much

We absolutely loved our time at Hahei Holiday Resort - this was our 3rd time there, in different accommodation every time.
This time we stayed in a ‘Beachfront Bach’. Perfect for families with teenagers! Loads of space and we loved how well thought-out everything was, e.g. separate toilet (with hand basin), good size shower & wet area, storage for toilet bags, plenty of rails for towels, a washing machine & tub, washing line, proper oven, large wardrobes in 2 of the 3 rooms plus a storage cupboard with a coat rack. It felt like they had really thought about the things you need on a beach holiday.
We will definitely be back!

We camped here for 6 nights on a powered site and loved it! The location was great with everything you needed in close proximity, stunning beach, beautiful scenery and great activities to enjoy. The campsite was a good size and fitted everything we needed to on the site, we had a great location near the ablutions and Bar Hei etc.
The facilities were a little bit tired and could have done with being cleaned more than twice a day - given there are only 11 showers in the women's bathrooms for a resort that has capacity to sleep 1200 pax the facilities were well used and queues were very long at prime times. Overall a very family oriented camp ground that had a lovely, friendly and safe feel to it, with a fabulous and reasonably safe swimming beach. We look forward to coming back with more of our extended family next year.

I didn't have a boat this time, but pretty sure there is. No concrete ramp, only beach launching. A lovely area & we used to find it excellent for diving.
This is best answered by the office at Hahei. Email them, I'm sure they will help you.
Sorry can't help you with this, a great place to stay with beautiful beach walks and friendly staff.
