The Chateau is showing is age. I am ok with the rustic style, but not when it means that the toilet is leaking and the shower half functioning. One staff member refused our reservation for the Tongariro Crossing Transport, saying there is always room and that reservations were not needed. Guess what, the time we wanted was fully booked when...

My family was treated like royalty from the moment we pulled up to stay. The young man on the door was especially helpful. The chateau is charmingly 'old world'. And that extends to the bathroom which is a little 'tired'. The restaurant was excellent with great food and immaculate service. The only quibble was that the rooms do not have...

Great high tea. Ranks with some of the best we have had (Ritz Dorchester Savoy etc). Extraordinary to be able to produce something to this standard, at such a reasonable price, ($25) a 100k from civilization. No pianist but soft jazz (cd?) and great surroundings. Genuine gracious elegance. Open fire. Great service. Highly recommended for tea aficionados. Stupendous views. Interesting...

I stayed for a night en route between Auckland and Wellington in January this year. I had booked in advance which was just as well as the hotel was completely full and buzzing with people from all round the world. A word of warning here, it pays to book the hotel restaurant in advance, preferably at the same time as...

Lovely old hotel with some wonderful attributes however really needs to be renovated especially the bathrooms in the room. We had some lovely evenings here spent by the fire however dinner was a bit of a let down - quite expensive and a little bit tasteless. Service was good in the main lobby and mostly fine in the restaurant. A...

We had a lovely high tea for 4 today. Stunning old building. My daughter especially thought it was fancy with the chandeliers and the towels in the bathroom that made it fancier even more. The high tea is lovely and a bargin at $25 per head

We stayed one night after walking the Tongariro Crossing mid April. We had a heritage room on the first floor which was excellent. Couldn't fault it. The price was $165 which we thought was very reasonable. The hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful. We relaxed before dinner in the main lounge bar with the huge log fire roaring...

A very special place to visit off peak. A few hickup with our booking- hey anyone can make a mistake but it takes a very special person to fix one! The only thing that they could do to improve our next stay is to offer free wifi. There is no reason to charge for this service. We have stayed here...

Hotel from 1929 with a nice Architecture and beautiful Salons on the ground floor. Unfortunatly my room could not keep up with this. Very small, not soundproof at all (towards neighbour rooms and esp. towards the corridor). Doors closing with a noisy pop. Plus some more sounds from the outside Hotel AC, kitchen etc. Not much sleep to find, since...
