First, I will say that this is an ideal location if you want to do the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. The shuttle bus to the start of the trail goes right up to the front door of this resort Also, the staff is very friendly.

Best ask at the big store where bus will prob drop you off, where is best place to thumb a lift to Whakapapa. Its not that far, just a few kilometers, will be other people travelling up to the chateau and the skotel for sure, just hold up a sign, be plenty people go there.
